More valuable is a relative term. Upton was one of the best players in MLB 2 years ago. Change of scenery seems like it will be good. That Arizona situation from last off-season till now was tiring even from a casual fan...cant imagine what it was like with him.

Agree...but I will question any player who struggles because he needs a change of scenery. I'd much rather have consistency than potential....when both are very good.
Upton will be great in CF

Justin is playing left. Bossman Junior in center.

No more fake to 3rd, throw to 1st pickoff: http://www.nytimes.com/ref/sports/baseball/baseball-rule-change-eliminates-a-fake-pickoff-by-pitcher.html

It'll be easier for runners to take second in first and third situations. They can steal like normal instead of being wary of the trick. If it trickles down to the younger levels, it's going to make first and third defense a little harder.gorocks99;1376028 wrote:No more fake to 3rd, throw to 1st pickoff: http://www.nytimes.com/ref/sports/baseball/baseball-rule-change-eliminates-a-fake-pickoff-by-pitcher.html
I'm with the 'traditionalists' when it comes to the question, "why?"

Throw over to first. Of course.Ironman92;1376043 wrote:Throw over to 3rd some....throw over to 1st some.
Throw over to third is dangerous. The third basemen isn't(shouldn't be) covering third. It would have to be a timing play and those plays are risky.

Yea, not sure why this needed to be a rule. What was it hurting?

Dont care about it in MLB. But I will be extremely happy if it is a rule in HS also. I cant tell you how many HS games Ive covered where the pitcher thinks he is an All-Star and does all this stupid shit for 15 minutes. Then 1st pitch and guy swipes second anyway.

Yes risky to third. But when it works...yeah baby. Somebody did this last season in MLB. Talk about a rally snuffer.hasbeen;1376044 wrote:Throw over to first. Of course.

most definitely. having a good timing play is great because runners on 3rd get lazy. they don't expect anything to happen their way.Footwedge;1376166 wrote:Yes risky to third. But when it works...yeah baby. Somebody did this last season in MLB. Talk about a rally snuffer.

They say it is to speed up the game. Really dont see it a whole lot in baseball. If they want to speed it up then speed up the time between pitches. Sometimes it is the batter fiddling with his batting gloves, sometimes it is the pitcher, etc.
It doesnt really work often in MLB, mostly because teams dont steal often. In HS it worked alot more becuase, well they are HS kids and because ya run more in HS and the kids get a jump as soon as the leg goes up.

Hafner signed with the Yankees. The short porch for lefties at Yankee Stadium should help spark his career if he can stay healthy. Unfortunatley for him that's a big if.
Also Martin Prado signed an extension with the Dbacks, 4yr/$40 million.
