What I'm saying is this HAS to be deeper then cheating on a test or two. No way that gets a star athlete kicked out of school.

I think it's fair to put "allegedly" in there.

Not so sure about this. I think being found cheating (not just being accused of it but that being proven to have occurred) on finals is a pretty big deal.

EDIT: Just saw this...

@BFeldmanCBS: RT @John_Infante: If Everett Golson is out due to an academic violation, he can’t get a scholarship anywhere next year.

Latest is Golson withdrew and wasn't expelled which will give him the opportunity to reapply. He'd probably need to take a semester off and then return after this season. Similar to what Julius Jones did in really 2000s and Darrin Walls did a few years ago.

Has already been debunked on a ND pay site. They have talked to a staff member and Golson has told ND he will be back when he can.

@jbook: 247 saying Clemson could be a landing spot for Everett Golson. I wonder how that would play out with Deshaun Watson.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/9313557/everett-golson-banned-notre-dame-fighting-irish-poor-academic-judgment

"I have been informed by the University of Notre Dame that due to my poor academic judgment that I have been suspended from the University for the 2013 Fall Term," Golson said. "I take full responsibility for my poor choices and will do all that is asked of me to regain the trust of my family, friends, teammates, coaches and the entire Notre Dame community."
"My parents and the community I grew up in have instilled values in me that have and will continue to allow me to be successful in the future," he said. "There have been many lessons learned as I worked to become the starting quarterback at Notre Dame and each was a result of Coach Kelly's belief in me as an athlete and a person.
"At this point, I understand how my integrity could be in question but I want to reassure my supporters that through this experience I will return a better student athlete as well as a better individual.
"Lastly, I want to thank the University of Notre Dame for the opportunity already granted and also the opportunity going forth to regain my eligibility in the winter of 2014."

yeah I'm sure he would as he already took a redshirt. He'd have 2 possible years left.

It takes a certain type of kid to come back after this, especially at ND (see the aforementioned Julius Jones), so it'll be interesting to see if Golson has the fortitude to do it.

Definitely not as bad as the initial reports/rumors. Still not good obviously but slacking off isn't as bad as cheating. I'll be rooting for him to get his academic affairs in order as I want him to return and play but this is something that he can learn from. Getting that degree is more important than football and just about everything else at this point in his life. Best of luck to him.

Now the question begins who is the starter for this year? Honestly I feel like Zaire gives us the best chance to win. He is very talented possibly more talented than golson.

I don't think there is a question at the QB position. Kelly has a hard on for Rees. He'll be the starter, and Hendrix will be brought in every once in awhile as a change-of-pace guy. I highly doubt that Kelly burns Zaire this year...especially if there's a chance of Golson coming back next year.

I think it's going to be a really hard season to watch this year.

Brian Kelly really like Zaire also. I think we will see all 3 this year

nothing really interesting in BK conference call. said he's like a dad in a sense that he's glad that Golson took responsibility but is disappointed in him for putting himself in this situation. all 3 qb's will get a shot for playing time. said it was the university's decision, not the football staff's and if Golson takes care of what he needs to academically and the school allows him to come back in January, he will be a part of the team. no other programs have contacted the staff or ND compliance about being interested in Golson.

he also said he expects Vanderdoes to report with the rest of the incoming freshmen in a couple weeks, but understands there is always a surprise or two and that he isn't concerned with who doesn't show up at this point.

That's really interesting about vanderdoes. I didn't think he will report. But then again in his position he has nothing to lose and should give ND a shot and he might end up loving it and staying

Eh I read it as Kelly didn't really want to talk about the situation and they weren't releasing him from the LOI, so in his eyes, he is supposed to report. I would be shocked if he shows up.
