Just political posturing. If Chuckles had not sucked it up during his confirmation hearing they would have no balls to mount this effort. Perhaps Chuckles could release some of the information concerning some of his work outside the Senate he would like to keep hidden.

I find it simply amazing that the Republican Senators wanted Hagel's financial documents for the last five years. Hell, their own nominee for President didn't even give two complete years. Having said that, it's obvious that the only intent of the R's dog and pony show was to embarrass Hagel for things he said when a Republican Senator and to rub Obama's face in shit. If the day ever comes that a Republican wins the Presidency this type of behavior will suddenly be criticized by his administration.

Let's discuss why they don't agree with Hagel's appointment, rather than just spew partisan talk. And why do you agree with his appointment, other than (Obama said so).

So are you saying it's OK for him to have "overseas" investment, and it wasn't OK for Romney to do such? Or are you saying that enough is enough and that subject should be ignored at this time?

I'm merely pointing out that they have a strange double standard. Their guy gets a pass on finances while Obama's gets grilled and filibustered. Of course, some of the Republican Senators are merely posturing for their bases back home. The fear of a tea party challenge (particularly for Lindsey Graham) makes them go all extreme.

Partisanship with regard to POTUS nominations is nothing new. The Democrats have made an art form of filibustering, delaying and blocking Republican POTUS nominations for a long, long time.

In recent history Bork and Thomas come to mind. Hell, the Dems used to have circle jerks giving "W" a hard time with just about any of his choices.

Sure, the democrats did it for judges who are appointed for life but not for President Bush's nominees. I mean, the Democrats never demanded, say, Iraq WMD intel over cabinet appointments (or something else totally unrelated) the way the Republicans are doing so over the much more benign event of Benghazi (in comparison to the Iraq War). The closest comparison was the Democrats threat to filibuster John Bolton if they didn't get more info about his time about Undersecretary of State but they never actually filibustered him (if memory serves) like Republicans officially are now with regard to Hagel (even though Voinovich cried over Bolton lol).

It is not equivalent. Whatever bad behavior Democrats are guilty of, during Obama's Presidency, Republicans have taken it to another level.

No. You've got it backwards. We are capable of saying that a mass murderer is worse than a man who commits one murder without excusing the man who commits a singular murder. The democrats have never acted the way republicans are toward executive branch nominees. Federal Judges are apples to oranges because they're appointed for life and not just for the presidency.
