I have far less issue with them adding GT than I do with then adding Virginia, even though culturally Virginia is a better fit for the conference than GT. GT gets us games in the Georgia Dome and Atlanta is eighth largest media market.

The conference is never going to get bigger than 16 members, so if the B1G is heading rapidly in that direction I just hope that they are in serious talks with Notre Dame. No school in the country makes more sense to join this conference than they do. I have to think that part of the reason the B1G would be poaching ACC schools would be to get ND to rethink their move there and seriously consider joining the B1G and finally giving up their football independence.

Uh no.
UVA would never join the B1G.
Hell, the Governor of VA is against it lol.

GT makes some, but not much sense.
It would not deliver Atlanta, that is SEC country, and it not a GT town anyway.
Plus, it is the south, so doesn't make too much sense culturally.
It is a fine school though, (the Purdue of the south) and they have an awesome fight song.

Makes about as much sense as MD & Rutgers. Hate to see more shitty teams joining the B1G.

Of course uva is saying no right now. They're waiting to see how the md lawsuit goes first. If actually invited I expect them to join.

I don't think anybody is worried about the MD lawsuit. They will settle for $20 mil and walk away

Sorry, I should have said potentially gets us (meaning the B1G) games in the Georgia Dome.

I really don't think it does. Hypothetically (obviously), GT isn't going to move conference games to a neutral site, and I highly doubt they would start playing the B1G title game on rotation there

Nope no game in GA if Tech is only team from south. Big boys in the conference would all veto that.

They would never play the B1G title game there, but I think we could occasionally see Georgia playing a conference game there. It is 15,000 seats bigger, and it's a dome, so it's louder. I don't know if they have ever scheduled home games there or not, but I would assume it'd be a possibility.

It is the home field of Georgia State. And no Tech doesn't play games there.

Does the B14 want to go to 16? If so, would not Pitt & Mizzo make sense academically?

Unlikely that academics figure in to the equation at all.

Lol at people wanting the B1G to be a super conference, chock full of great teams. OSU, UM, MSU, Nebraska, Wisconsin, PSU.. Great history. Great teams.

The only difference is the poll voters have more of a hard on for sec teams.

The only difference is the SEC has dominated the national championship picture by taking 7 of the last 9 BCS championships. I have a hunch it's going to be 8 of the last 10 come January 2013.

Until the once great B1G teams start being great again, the SEC hard on will get even bigger.

I don't count last years game for their run. The SEC was gifted a National Championship by getting an incredibly lame and equally terrible rematch.

Fair enough but it doesn't negate the fact the SEC is superior to ANY of the other BCS conferences. Quite frankly the very fact that the conference was "gifted" the NC last season only demonstrates the painful proof of the SEC's domination of Division 1 college football.

Well, hopefully we will see a change with the implementation of a new playoff system

These are all good buisness moves. Expect the big players to be added at the end of the expansion race (20 teams). North Carolina, ND,Texas, Florida (all AAU members) or some combination of those mentioned will round out the B1G.
