Sagarin's ratings are definitely off the norm, but I don't think they're necessarily that far from the truth. I think Rutgers is the highest rated Big East team in his rankings at 44.
I think the polls that have teams like Kent State and San Jose State over Florida State and Michigan are more of a joke personally.

Oh I agree. Kent State, while a great story, wants no part of a team like Florida State, Clemson, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, etc...they would have 70+ hung on them. Northern could compete better but still...
My gripe is more with the simple fact that NIU, clearly the better team with better resume...and better stat splits all year...was a consensus vote BEHIND Kent State in every poll, ranking and vote...

That upper deck is sure sparsely filled out there in Palo Alto. I'd think the Pac-12 would draw better

Lowest Stanford home crowd since the 2010 opener. I guess because of the weather and rematch of a game from last week, but still pretty sad.ts1227;1333882 wrote:That upper deck is sure sparsely filled out there in Palo Alto. I'd think the Pac-12 would draw better

I still don't see how you can't sell out an on-campus conference title game. Come on Stanfordgerb131;1333884 wrote:No U$C and its Friday night.

If I lived in California I would waste my time going to a college football game with everything else there is to do out there.

It depends. Some places in California...I'd kill to actually have a decent football game to attend.

agreed. it was a fun story to think about but florida st would have named the score against the flashes.Azubuike24;1333863 wrote:Oh I agree. Huskies are expected to pass Boise State based on the computers alone. Oklahoma State and TCU both down at half, good news for NIU in the computers if those results hold.

Wouldn't a TCU victory be more beneficial, as it would knock #11 out of the way, and hopefully below wherever NIU rises to?Mulva;1334058 wrote:Huskies are expected to pass Boise State based on the computers alone. Really? Two recycled teams, especially Clemson, who lost at home to a depleted South Carolina team (who will get left out of the BCS, BTW)?Rotinaj;1333936 wrote:This sounds like good news to me.
I'd rather see Northern Illinois...even though they aren't deserving.

I don't think NIU will jump Oklahoma either way, and they definitely won't in the computers. TCU is ahead of them in a couple of computer polls right now, and would probably pass them in the others with a win today.ts1227;1334074 wrote:Wouldn't a TCU victory be more beneficial, as it would knock #11 out of the way, and hopefully below wherever NIU rises to?
NIU basically needs to worry about UCLA in the human polls, and then climb as high as possible in the computers. I read that if they have 140 points more than UCLA in the USA Today poll (assuming a Texas loss today), they might be in good shape to hit the top 16.

This game is exhibit A why SEC vs. SEC should never happen. This is a snoozefest.
