I was cool enough to get the second comment on that article. Everyone seems to have that same agreement.

Waiting for someone to get killed? If you watch NASCAR just to see someone get killed..first..your going to be waiting a while..and second..you need to go watch something else.

just wait for that one person who will try to convince everyone that driving a car somehow takes tons of athletic ability. At work this summer, I called out a NASCAR fan about how its not a sport. She replied "Do you know how good of shape Mark Martin is in? He works out everyday and is probably in better shape than you." hmmmm

Well..I'm not that one person..I don't try to convince anyone to either like or dislike NASCAR at all. Everyone has there opinions..and nobody will be able to change them.

What makes Jimmie Johnson any less of an athlete than someone like David Ortiz?

Some think it takes no skill, talent, or athletic ability to drive a race car for 500 miles at speeds of up to 200 mph, 6 inches away from a car in front of you, behind you, and beside you, while experiencing 2-3 G's inside the race car. Don't you know anyone can do it? They make millions of dollars just b/c they are at the right spot at the right time. Not b/c they are good at what they do. Anyone can do that.

Yeah, I don't like NASCAR at all.

But I don't knock it. I can barely drive on 71 North without killing everyone. I don't know if they're athletes in the traditional sense. But what they do takes some legit skill IMO.

No point in arguing with them GoChiefs. People that talk shit on NASCAR and how they're not athletes or whatever don't have a clue what they're talking about in most cases. Most know nothing about the sport and are just babbling idiots to begin with. There have been many NASCAR conversations over the years and the outcome has always been the same and proved what I said to be true. But it doesn't change anything, so it's just pointless.

I don't care how hard you try to explain it, NASCAR is not a sport. Sure, you have to be in shape to make it through a race in that kind of heat, but an activity with no body movement it not a sport. It's a strategical game. Like speed chess with life or death consequences.
