Sure they do. Everyone has a bad game sometimes, even in big games.AllOhio;1483476 wrote: "Arguably" the best WR's don't drop several passes in big playoff games! Just say'n.
Ask Michael Jordan about his game on May 26, 1997 - Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals versus the Miami Heat.
45 minutes played, 29 pts (11 off free throws), 9 for 35 shooting (25.7%), 0 for 8 from 3-point, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal.
He missed 19 of 21 shots at one stretch.
He did this while also giving up 25 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 3-pointers to Tim Hardaway.
Even the greatest players can have bad games in the playoffs.

They also have great games and way more than the bad ones. So where exactly are those games?O-Trap;1483517 wrote:Sure they do. Everyone has a bad game sometimes, even in big games.

For Harris (to whom this whole train of thought was initially directed), I'd say 79 catches, over 1,300 yards, and 13 TDs is indicative of at least a few good games. Certainly more good than bad.rrfan;1483523 wrote:They also have great games and way more than the bad ones. So where exactly are those games?

Click and read. I LOL'd when his dad says in the article that "once he gets one offer then more will come in"....thats funny!! I would bet that this kid had an offer from Bluffton (where Dad went) and thats about it. He mentions no other school at all making an offer, but says more will come??? If he gets another offer any better than a small D3 I will be surprised. This whole thing is a joke...makes Akron look bad and makes his dad look even more like a TOOL!

What's funny is, when I worked for a marketing company, we were hired by the Akron football team on how to get more people in the seats. One of the things we all agreed on was that nothing is a full replacement for a winning team.Old Rider;1483533 wrote:http://www.thepostnewspapers.com/northern_wayne/sports/rittman_sports/article_3fb7879d-47b0-5e9b-bf20-2991fcdc3da5.html

Much as I would love to see a kid from the WCAL do well in D1, I don't think this is going to help.

Berger is the one who had 79 catches and 1378 yards. Harris numbers have never been anywhere near that. With less targets and a weaker running game I anticipate Harris will be used a lot more this year. I dont know about the catches but I see that yardage record falling this year. Norwayne will throw a bunch this year

Whoops. My bad. We were talking about Berger. Even if he dropped a couple passes in a big game (as AllOhio alluded to), he's still among the best WRs to come out of the WCAL.Bobcat;1483549 wrote:Berger is the one who had 79 catches and 1378 yards. Tressel will have the Akron job next year when he's eligible to coach again. I imagine he will be able to put some fans in those seats and some real players on the field fairly quickly.

Bluffton may even be a stretch. There is something a muck here and it smells. There has got to be some pictures in someone's little book. This makes all parties look more than silly. I guess I am just very confused about the whole thing. I would think the kid even knows he is not D1 caliber. Well it makes for a good laugh and a big wow.

Unfortunately for Dennis all of this pubicity he's getting as an allete D1 athlete has probably marked him for the season. I'm sure there's plenty of players around the league that would lke to show him just how good he is(n't). I haven't talked to any players around the league but it would be interesting to hear what they think.

Apparently he isn't even allowed to be hit in practice. If this is true, which I can believe, its embarrassing.WCALfootballfan;1484948 wrote:Unfortunately for Dennis all of this pubicity he's getting as an allete D1 athlete has probably marked him for the season. I'm not sure what all the hatred is towards Dennis. Is it jealousy? So the kid got a d1 scholly, shouldn't we be happy for the WCAL that d1 is actually looking at WCAL schools? The kid works hard on the camp circuit which is where you are seen. If you don't like it, than work harder or be mad that your coach doesn't promote your kid rather than take your hatred out towards the Dennis boy

I don't have a kid. I'm not mad, but I can still think a decision or circumstance is stupid without hating the recipient of good fortune.Walefan;1485062 wrote:I'm not sure what all the hatred is towards Dennis. I would be happy if I thought his time at Akron would actually reflect well on the WCAL, but this whole thing just seems like a waste for Akron.

If I'm another player in the league right now I would be excited for all the d1 players in the league, that means more exposure during the season

As I recall, someone once told me that the exposure happens at camps.Walefan;1485215 wrote:If I'm another player in the league right now I would be excited for all the d1 players in the league, that means more exposure during the season
Either way, if he's not doing anything substantial, it's not going to be any more exposure for the league, or at least good exposure. I'm assuming most high school students can put that logic together. For example, how much exposure do you think Canyon High School got from Steve Scarsone playing major league baseball? Not much.
For what it's worth, I hope I'm wrong. I hope something comes out of him that we haven't seen yet, and he has a great career in college. THAT would bring positive attention to the conference.
However, his stats from last year were not impressive, and his on-field ability demonstrated was ... eh ... certainly not D1 material.
Like I said, I hope I'm wrong. I just don't think I am.

I'm assuming Walefan is in the Dennis family or close to it some how. 2 posts is a dead giveaway
What's wrong with McGinty Beverboy?
My contacts at Smithville aren't reporting any injuries there. Sounds like they are thin this year
I assume the younger Stanley boy is playing ball this fall for Waynedale. He was on his way to having a heck of year until he got injured.
Any more news out there?
