Te'o is the best player on the best defense on the #1 team in the country...can any of the other candidates make a comparable claim?

So, a defensive player on a top ranked team should get heisman every year? Is that what your implying? AJ McCarron has the least amount of ints in the country for the team thats going to smack ND around and become the new #1. Should he get it? He is the best QB on their team. Who else can say that? And yes, I know he's not invited. Out of the players invited last year, RGIII wasnt on a top team. It didnt stop him from winning.
Btw, Manziels stats, how much better A&M is compared to recent history, beating Bama, being only a freshman, a guy who wasnt recruited by anyone, etc....... is more than what T'eo accomplished as a senior.

I think Teo has been unreal this season but even without him I think Notre Dame is still at least 10-2 and in a BCS bowl, A&M would be 6-6 easily without Johnny Football

I do know how it works. Don't always agree, and neither do a lot of others.

My point was that many on here were comparing stats of Shazier to Te'o as a reason why Te'o shouldn't win. I got in on that as well. So if you are going to tell another poster that stats don't matter, then we can stop with the Shazier comparisons.

Just read that Colin Klein never kissed his wife until they were married...yeah you read that correctly..."kissed" as in smooched.

OK this kid is a psycho as is his wife, cross him off the list as if he had a chance anyway. Man-zier wins the damn thing...give it to him already and lets be done with it.

1. I never said stats don't matter. 2. I never compared Shazier and Te'o in regards to Te'o not winning it. I've said it a million times, what one person says DOES NOT speak for an entire fanbase.

RG3 and Tebow were the exception. The Heisman caters to the best player on the top 1-2 teams and they must have the numbers to back it up. If ND had a legit star on offense Te'o wouldn't even be in the convo.

Not surprised at all. The other two guys were just there to create drama for ESPN, even though nobody actually in their heart of hearts thought they deserved to win

Looks like 321 people thought Te'o deserved to win.

Good for Johnny Football. I'd rather Te'o get a ring anyway.

The real "Hollywood story" is how Manziel went from 3rd string to Heisman winner, in the same year A&M joined the SEC. The same year he likely led his team to a victory (and the only loss for) over the national champions.

Even more amazing...he's a Freshman. The pressure on him in the next 2 years...wow.

Justice served. For example, Terrell Suggs had 24 sacks in a single season yet didn't make it as a Heisman finalist.

Te'o winning would've been a slap in the face to dozens of amazing defensive players over the years who never even made it to New York. I'm sorry, but he's not even in the league as some of these guys...let alone better.

This really is too bad. The Heisman not only continues to lose credibility, but IMO this is the beginning of the end of the award as we know it. It'll fade into irrelevance, ala the NIT in basketball. :(
