I don't think this is limited to Dems or this Administration.

And it's a big problem, because I think it's a deliberate attempt to circumvent disclosure and public information acts. Although I believe that the tech is probably cumbersome and problematic (which is hard to believe, given our defense spending), I think that's mostly just an excuse.

Problem is, the sheeple on both sides of the aisle won't hold the people they vote for accountable. Bush lied. Obama lied. And people are outraged (some of the time, depending) and don't understand why it continues to happen. Because you only care about the people you don't vote for, so there's literally no reason for anyone to change their behavior because only people who will never vote for them are mad.

I think that more and more. Start with the Patriot Act, move to things like the TSA security stuff and progress to this. Both sides culpable. All with the end result of creating a "well, if you aren't doing anything wrong, you don't have anything to worry about" stigma where people are essentially cowed into letting authority do whatever they want because, obviously, if they have objections to any of it, they "must" be hiding something.

A lot of the disagreement and "impass" certainly seems for show....they've largely, over the past 20 years or so, come to a mutual understanding where Repubs get to cut taxes a little, Dems get to raise them a little (resulting in no real net change), and Dems spend a little more on entitlements and Repubs spend a little more on defense.

There's a lot of political posturing over foreign policy, but actual decisions really seem to me to be driven by career staffers. So I think if you swap timelines for Clinton, Bush and Obama they each would have made the same choices in the same circumstances.

Both sides, save maybe the Tea Party, have basically given-up on fiscal discipline, much less any meaningful spending reforms.


I don't like or trust Hillary, at all. But I also don't see a strong, experienced leader on the Repub side to get excited about.
