I had a ton of good food this weekend. Hard to choose a favorite but probably a NY strip with a baked potato.

Pretty sure this is why I've never considered going there even though I've gone by it a million times. Although there are a couple Chinese places I have had close by that are even more run down but have good food.

I highly recommend it. Do not let the fact that the The Flower Drum sits on skid row stop you from enjoying such great food. There is almost zero chance you will get stabbed. If you love Chinese as much as I do, I am certain you'd enjoy it.

Visited my mom Sunday. For lunch, she cooked pork chops according to some recipe used at some church-type function she was at. It was awesome.

Had leftovers for lunch today and will continue until it is gone. Meat was super-tender and whatever was coating it was pretty worthwhile, too.

I was in New York City this weekend... Had an incredible meal at Il Pesce within Eataly. It was a whole Branzino fish baked on a bed of potatoes. Fantastic!

Eataly rocks, one of my favorite low-key spots in the city ... great place to eat some good cheese and drink some good wine. Battali is the man!

Banana Cream Pie from Mike Ditka's Restuarant here in Chicago.

I got the dessert to go and ate it around 3am that night. Best drunk dessert I've ever had. It seriously tasted like heaven.

We had three couples from our neighborhood in Ohio meet up in NYC (Times Square) with former neighbors that moved back to the Albany area. We all put lists together of things they wanted to do over the three days. The only thing I had on my list was Eataly... I thought I was going to pass out from excitement when I was there... Like a child on the best Christmas morning ever... I wanted to spend a lot more time there than we were able to, but it was fantastic.

My wife and I enjoy the Cacio e Pepe at the pasta spot in Eataly, really good dish (close to what we had in Rome, but not quite as good). Next time you are in town, check out Del Posto or Lupa (Babbo is Batali's signature spot, but its really hard to get reservations, and slightly overrated for the price, which will be close to $400 for 2 people).

Made some pretty tasty chili and ate at a new restaurant in Alliance that serves all local stuff, makes their own cheese, and has probably the best craft beer selection in the city (not really a big claim there). I enjoyed it although apparently some people were complaining that, gasp, they offer $7 burgers. Maybe I'm crazy but I have no problem paying that for quality food when it's marginally more expensive than getting my fill at a shitty fast food place. Of course I'm also not a broke crack head so maybe my perspective is out of whack with the area.
