Not real big on personal accolades so dont really care that he didnt get POY. If I had my choice I would rather him not get it because I feel that most players play better when they have something to prove or feel slighted. Even if he outwardly doesnt feel he was ya know it sticks with you. If i had a choice, and this goes for any sport, I would rather the players on my fav teams to not win the POY.

I know....sounds stupid...

Yeah...

When you have a Top 10 national team and he's the only game-in/game-out consistent offensive threat on said team, it's kind of a no-brainer that he's a first-team all-conference pick. Even if his shooting percentage isn't always great.

Jim Jackson summed it up pretty well. He said Craft was the "incumbent known entity", whereas Oladipo burst onto the scene (as a defensive force), thus inheriting the "new guy in town" tag. This helped him garner the "fresh face" votes that Craft received last year. He also said they're 1A & 1B, and are both equally worthy of the award.

The toughest part imo, is that they arent really even remotely similar defensive players. Yet, at the same time, both are just absolute beasts on that side of the ball. Craft will lock down any guard in the nation. Victor will get beat a lot more often, but can guard more positions and his steals/havoc creates more offense for IU than Crafts do for OSU. Its kind of a toss-up for me. I wouldnt trade Victor for anyone, but thats also cause his style of defense translates perfectly to what IU wants to do as a team offensively.

Craft the same for OSU.

Oh, and Thomas is a no-brainer on 1st Team. In fact, the first 4 are all no-brainers (Vic, Cody, Thomas and Burke).

Good point, and I forgot that Jackson mentioned this as well--he said Oladipo can guard positions 1 thru 4, and that's what makes him so valuable on that side of the ball.

Right. End of discussion. He's party the reason OSU isn't a championship team quality team and hopefully he waits until at least the sweet 16 before shooting us out of the tournament.

Yeah, thats what makes him so valuable. He isnt as good on the ball, but the versatility makes up for it, imo.

He guarded Hardaway, Burke and Robinson in the UofM game alone.

Apparently you don't know basketball either. Thomas is only on the 1st team because he scored a lot of points(and consequently shot OSU out of many games).

I admit i had only watched IU games so I only saw Craft a couple of times, but it seemed like Oladipo picked more pockets, defending on the ball, and getting layups then I have seen from a guy in a very, very long time. At times he looked like a great HS player who was just that much better then the kids he was going against on the steals.

See as someone who mostly only watches osu, I see craft completely change games drfensively. I saw Victor make some great plays but im not sure he changed games.
That being said, both are great defenders and craft could probably care less he didnt win it so why should we.

and you may be right. Craft would probably be on the point defending more often then Oladipo becuase of their size. I was just talking about how maybe Oli isnt that great defending the ball but man he does pick alot of pockets. Oladipo did have more steals per game, albeit only by .2 which really isnt much.

Both are great defenders, no doubt. I would take both on the team, no doubt, but Oladipo is clearly the better player and has a future in the game.

I think they were both very deserving but oladipos team won the league so that may have helped

Lol. Look at the Big Ten. Who is a better player that didnt make it? Id say the only 2 who even have an argument to be in the same discussion as the top 4 are Harris and Payne from MSU. Heck, I think either of them shouldve been ahead of TH2, but they are not better than Thomas.

This team would not be in the tournament without Thomas, let alone a 2nd place finish in the B1G.

I'm actually hoping he goes pro. I know basketball, Thomas hurts this team more than he helps. He'll come back since the NBA scouts will agree with what I'm saying and he'll go undrafted. He is not good.

I agree. They'd be B1G champions and NCAA tournament champions without Thomas since he's an inefficient scorer and ball hog.
