Rasheed started at point guard -- both the game and second half -- against Wake Forest, so hopefully it is a sign of a new era at Duke.

Quinn is a quality, not great, point guard. People often point to Quinn's excellent assist-to-turnover ratio as evidence of his greatness as a point, but where he doesn't turn the ball over in errant passes or getting his pocket picked, he does so on missed pull-up threes in transition and wild forays into the lane that result in circus shots. It would serve Quinn well to understand that he is not Stephon Marbury and stop trying to create so much through scoring.

Next year, Rasheed or Tyus Jones will be running the show.

Duke trivia for the night.

What do you get when you add these four things together?

The jersey numbers of Rasheed Suliamon, Rodney Hood and Jabari Parker plus a dollar sign?

Duke back to #5 in the AP poll. At 20-5, the Blue Devils are in decent position to make a move for a two seed. In order to do that, Syracuse is a must win game in Cameron on Saturday. The game at UNC is not per se, since the Blue Devils will host the Tar Heels again on the last weekend of the regular-season.

But first gotta get by Georgia Tech tonight in Atlanta. A loss to the Yellow Jackets (13-12, 4-8), on top of previous losses to Notre Dame and Clemson, would crush the Devils' chances. This is a huge game. A loss heading into UNC and Syracuse would not be good.

I hope the officials read up on the change of possession rule and how to flip the possession arrow correctly.

Guessing we will see the Devils go to the 10 man rotation again tonight with ample ball pressure on Paige.
Need to deter the offense 28 feet away to prevent post touches for Meeks, McAdoo, and Brice Johnson. Carolina needs to get shots up from inside and rebound like crazy. If the Heels make an effort to get second chance points they can win the game. Duke needs to keep up the defensive pressure on the guards and prevent easy touches at the rim. Force the Heels to make free throws to win and force Paige to hit distance shots and not create for interior players. This is a Hariston, Plumlee, and Jefferson foul out type game.

I think one of Hood or Parker returns. Probably not Parker, so I'll go with Hood. But it would not really surprise me if Parker did decide to come back. He got embarrassed today and made some interesting remarks afterward about not wanting to be remembered for that. Then again, I said that about Austin Rivers when he went out against a 15 seed. That didn't seem to phase him much.

Plumlee will probably play less next year than he did this year, and he didn't play a minute today. So I doubt he starts. If he couldn't work his way permanently into the rotation this year, when Duke had no center, he's in for an uphill battle next year with the best big man in the class coming to town. I feel bad for him. He deserved to play more. K fucked this year up.

Yeah it'll be interesting to see who leaves/returns. Guys I'm most interested in are Semi, Matt Jones, Winslow, and Allen. One of those guys will really need emerge and give Duke a boost next year. Hopefully we get two guys to emerge from that group.

Agreed.

Though it may sound odd since he only averaged 1.8 points a game and made just three 3s on the year, Matt Jones was recruited primarily for his stature as an elite scorer and shooter. He was widely regarded as the best three-point shooter in his class. I am really interested to see how Jones develops over the summer and, with Andre Dawkins and Tyler Thornton now graduated, if more minutes and an expanded role will help him regain that offensive touch.

The kid didn't just lose that ability. I just think because there were so many guards ahead of him in the rotation this season, Jones was never really able to find his feet and fully adjust to the speed of the college game.

Damnit CC....and Rec

All my avoiding jinxes weren't enough.

Can Duke just go find a 7'2 guy with a name nobody can spell or pronounce....and also a 6'9 inside/ outside guy. They drive me nuts in the tournament.

What do you think the chances are that Jabari comes back? I know he made the comments after the game, probably all emotions, but I have this feeling he will be back.

IF he comes back, ya'll will have a special team.

If you're referencing me being extremely excited that certain teams lost last night that helped my bracket, welcome to March Madness. That's not jinxing Duke.

I don't have any inside info on the matter, but I actually think the chances are at least good. He made a pretty big deal during the recruiting process about how he wasn't choosing a school just to go play basketball, but one that would also present him the opportunity to receive a great education. I know a lot of kids say that, but a lot of kids also don't say that. I really do believe Parker means that and that, while Coach K is a huge draw for recruits, Duke's academic prestige played a major role in the destination he chose.

Also, Parker has spoken a lot about wanting to leave a mark and be known as more than just a one-and-done. It's probably just my heart talking, but after what Jabari said today, I truly don't think he wants to part ways with Coach K on that grim note. Whether he stays or leaves, he definitely cares more about being in college than a kid like Austin Rivers. We'll see.

Don't see him coming back, but wouldn't mind seeing it. I enjoy watching him play and think it would be good for college hoops.

N&O beat writer Laura Keeley thinks Hood and Jabari are gone. I agree.

For the record, this Duke fan picked Mercer to win and had Mercer in the sweet sixteen.

Duke had no leadership this year and little consistency from the guard position. Combined with horrific team defense it was inevitable the devils would flame out against someone who played team basketball. C'est la vie.

Mainly just guys that can play DEFENSE.

IMO the 2010 team spoiled us. They did all the little things needed to win a championship. They had true leaders, played defense, had a hell of a post player rotation (Zoubek, Thomas, Plumlees x2), and then the 3 guys that would've literally died with the Duke jersey on (Scheyer, Singler, and Smith).

God, I miss that team lol.
