Rick Majerus out at Saint Louis. Per ESPN. Majerus had already taken a leave of absence due to declining health prior to the beginning of the season, but it now appears as if the former Runnin' Ute mastermind is done. I find this sad. Love Rick Majerus and the passion and quality he brings to the sport. His teams don't necessarily play a style I am fond of, but he wins wherever he is at and that was never more evident than in the job he did with the Billikens, culminating last March with a near upset of top seed Michigan State in the second round.
Maybe he will return to ESPN. Always enjoyed him in that capacity.

No, cause they are the favorite and have quite a few NBA players on the team.gerb131;1321793 wrote:NC State has a team this year...sleeper team in ACC?

Also, my hotel doesn't get ESPN2. All I wanna do is watch Purdue lose again!
But seriously, I might have to rescind my thoughts that they'd be a bubble team. They look bad

I think it will be a very entertaining race this year among N.C. State, Duke and North Carolina. Triangle Basketball is back in the ACC.Pick6;1321796 wrote:I believe favorite in the ACC.
Still not sold on Gottfried -- his tenure at Alabama ended so unforgettably -- but he is right on par with the best of the best in the recruiting game and, if he keeps it up, will continue to field contenders based on that alone. He reminds me of a more intelligent Scott Drew. Although, Drew has gotta be straight up paying kids.
Like Gottfried, though, he seems to be a pretty good guy on the surface and has been an excellent addition to the ACC thus far.

If they win the appeal, that's a different story...

I'll eat crow on that one.
Poor Lafayette, getting UK after a Duke loss. 93-41. Ryan Harrow still out but it has been a clinic by the Cats. Alex Poythress 9 for 10 from the field.

Poythress is a man amongst boys. Watching the Duke game he impressed me more than Noel did

Alabama/Villanova, decent game on ESPN2. Bama up 10 with about 12 minutes left.

Notre Dame and St. Joseph's tied with a minute left.
Was looking forward to watching UNC - Long Beach St, but I still have this garbage Florida Atlantic vs Florida Intl football game on ESPNU.

No Carl Jones in this game for St.Joe's either. Surprised they pulled the upset off without him(not that I follow the team and know what they have other than him but he is their best player).Crimson streak;1321971 wrote:Notre dame loses in ot played like shit the last 3 min in regulation and ot. Any games on tonight amidst all of the football? Couldn't locate any on a quick scan of my guide.
Cannot wait for Monday afternoon. Off work. Maui Time. While the field is rather weak compared to previous years, Butler and UNC are headliners and could produce a superb second round game.

No games I guess. Lol.
Per ESPN: Maryland in serious pursuit of trying to leave the ACC and join the Big Ten. From a hoops perspective, with Gary Williams no longer at the helm of the Terrapins program, this upsets me none. I am not convinced that Mark Turgeon is going to turn UMD back into a national power at all and the Terrapin brand has been down since the mid-2000s anyway. I guess I'd miss the games in college park as a fan -- while always potentially dangerous, they are always heated and fun to watch -- but good riddance if they leave.

Iona jumped out to a 48-11 lead over Wake Forest. They beat the Deacs by 26. The Deacs just took Connecticut to the wire yesterday.
It's a crazy year folks...

Now playing point for the running and gunning Gaels with the departure of Scott Machado, MoMo Jones is going to tally crazy totals this year for Iona. He already has 81 points through three games, including the 40 he dropped on Quinnipiac on Friday. Backcourt mate Sean Armand is averaging over 20 PPG as well through three games and hit seven triples against Wake Forest.
Another potent backcourt to watch out for. There are just so many one-two punches this year that it's hard to keep track of them all. The NCAA Tournament is going to be a blast with all of the outstanding perimeter players out there.

No great games tomorrow but a few decent ones. Ohio State/Washington, Murray State/Colorado, and Oklahoma State/NC State.
Secondary games would be Belmont/Stanford, Tennessee/UMass, Richmond/Minnesota, and MTSU/Florida.
