I think most THINK he is gone and assume it. However, there are hints that he might not be (his brother wants him to stay 3 and graduate, which he would do by NEXT years draft). Its one of those where everyone assumes he will leave, but at the same time you just have that bit of hope that isnt out of the question he might come back.reclegend22;1366250 wrote:Thanks. Haven't really been following the boards at all.
Laley, thoughts on Zeller? Any chance he comes back (perhaps if Indiana leaves business unfinished)?
The problem becomes scholarships. I know it works its way out, but still, we are graduating 4 (with Creek a RS JR who I doubt comes back) and have 6 signed already. Zeller and Oladipo make the 6 available. Yogi turning pro is doubtful and same with Sheehey. Someone might not qualify or a transfer or something. But if Zeller staying means Oladipo MUST go, which I think will happen.

Basically, everyone assumes Zeller is gone, but if he announced he was staying I dont think many would be shocked...if that makes sense.

It made sense for some guys to return last year with the lockout. It made sense for some other guys to hang around this year because the lockout loaded last year's draft. This year's draft is weak and the HS/one-and-done class is terrible. I'm not sure how you don't go.
Believe me, these guys don't want to be testing the waters against Andrew Wiggins, Julius Randle, Jabari Parker, the Harrison twins, the rest of the HS class and many of the overrated 2-year guys from the 2012 class who will have developed an extra year. Just IMO, but anyone who is a top 5-10 guy this year would be stupid to stay...

Makes sense. I think it was a similar situation with Jason Williams at Duke in 2001. After winning the title and NABC NPOTY award, and being a lock for a top five pick in the draft, I don't think anyone outside of Duke expected Williams to return. But Duke fans, myself included, having followed Jason closely, were not surprised at all.Laley23;1366255 wrote:Basically, everyone assumes Zeller is gone, but if he announced he was staying I dont think many would be shocked...if that makes sense.

After doing some reading over at the Butler boards, the general consensus seems to be that Rotnei Clarke will likely sit out the Bulldogs' game at home against Richmond on Wednesday, but be ready to go for Gonzaga on Saturday. This is based off statements made this week by Brad Stevens on his radio show. Butler has called Clarke's injury a "serious neck sprain," but has reported that he has already been back in the gym and performing light workouts.
So good news for college basketball fans.

Butler has already ruled him out of both games today, in a press conference.

I was getting my updates from ButlerHoops.com. The posts were from this evening, too. Interesting. Not sure how I missed that news.

Ben McLemore suffers an ankle injury in Kansas win over Baylor. No clue how serious.

Didn't look THAT bad. But you never know. Hopefully for him it isn't the dreaded high sprain.

The Johnnies en route to taking down No. 20 Notre Dame in The Garden. After a potentially gave-saving shot block by St. John's a moment ago, the camera zoomed in on 208-year-old Louie Carnasecca about to have a heart attack in the stands. God I love college basketball. Great.

Maryland gets an important win over NC State. Didn't watch but I guess Len had a putback at or near the buzzer.

I don't watch a lot of college basketball and haven't kept up enough to answer my own question....but how is Louisville #1? I know Duke lost but they beat Louisville....and Kentucky and Ohio State. Weren't those teams #2, #3 and #4 when they beat them?
Who has Louisville beaten in the top 25?
Just wondering? I don't think Duke is the #1 team in the country right now....but just wasn't sure if Louisville or someone else was actually more deserving?

The nature of the polls. Louisville hasn't lost in 6 weeks and Duke just lost. I don't think either are the best team.
Big hit for Georgetown as Greg Whittington is out, likely for the year, with being ruled academically ineligible. Maybe their best all-around player, if Otto Porter isn't. Put GT's NCAA hopes in jeopardy, IMO. I don't see them going .500 in the Big East without him.

Not sure SDSU knows you have to jump to get a rebound. Pathetic dsiplay the last couple minutes on the defensive boards.

Matthew Dellavedova made the shot of the year as St.Marys defeated BYU 70-68.St.Marys trailed 68-67 with 2.5 seconds left when Dellavedova took the inbounds pass, dribbled just past half court, and launched a running 3-pointer that found nothing but net.
The shot came from about the same place on the court as Evan Turner's game-winner against UM in the Big 10 Tournament.

I've never seen a lack of touch quite like Plumlee just demonstrated. I sure hope that slipped.

Right now, though, I agree. Unless Ryan Kelly returns, Duke is nowhere close to the best team in the country. With Kelly, however, Duke certainly was playing as good, if not better than, anyone. It's just a totally different team without the 6-11 playmaker. There is no way around that.
Seth Curry doing his best, however, to carry Duke tonight. Curry 5 of 6 from three tonight and 19 points total.
