I have watched about a game and a half of Duke. College basketball has fallen pretty hard in my viewing/rootings. The best players play 1 year and are gone before you know who the hell they are.

Put Kansas at #1....don't care, they are one of the deserving candidates and are fun to watch (the 30 minutes I watched them)

I don't give a fuck if they lose by 1 or TWENTY SEVEN. lol I care when they lose to the Lehigh Tartlets in the first round. You being a Kansas fan know what I'm talking about.

You've watched more Charlotte Bobcat games with zero connection, than you have your favorite college basketball team? (NCAA bball>>>>>>>NBA)

Coaching matters a ton in college in today's game. Recruiting and retaining is part of coaching. It's not easy to take a team who might have a max of 2 years together (I'd say that the elite programs rarely have the bulk of a team together more than a year or 2) and make them great. Unlike an NBA season, you have less practice time and far less games to mesh.

While I'm not a fan of everyone, I do respect the ability of coaches who can continually adapt to change and produce quality results the most. There are a few others who go a little more up and down, despite success. Tom Izzo, Bill Self and Coach K are in the group. Roy Williams, Jim Boeheim, Rick Pitino, Billy Donovan, all great career resumes, but have had numerous "down" years and take a little building back up.

Uh....I know one of the players and the family he married into quite well.

I always liked NCAAB over the NBA until about 3 years ago....I grow tired of not knowing anyone on the court.

It's ok....come later in the season and tourney I'll watch more.

Carolina beats Georgia Tech, 79-63. Third straight ACC win for the Heels after starting 0-2 in conference play. They're now 13-5 overall and will travel to Raleigh for a battle with State on Saturday. The Tar Heels have beaten State 13 times in a row and Roy Williams is 19-1 against the Pack since returning to Chapel Hill. State will be hungry for a win, esepcially at home, but this a BIG game for Carolina too.

Heels playing well. Wolf Pack is not. State will win big probably.

Lol. Not at the idea of Carolina losing, but because that scenario you laid out is probably true. N.C. State's M.O. on Tobacco Road against Duke and Carolina.

Lol. Exactly what rec just said. Carolina has owned State under Roy, they're finally playing well, and State has been wildly inconistent. Chalk one up for the Pack on Saturday.

I love Bill Walton, but he would openly root on air for UCLA if the Bruin starting five was the Manson Family. He runs laps around "Dukie" Vitale. He doesn't even try to pretend he likes the other team, like Vitale will do. It's comical. Glad Walton is back in the booth, though.

Walton has been correct tonight. Arizona was awful and UCLA very good.

I love how over the top he is. Also loved the, "on the other hand, I dont know why teams dont maul Larry Drew" insinuating he cant handle pressure lol.

Walton just called UCLA's win over Arizona tonight one of the most impressive victories in the history of the program, which has won 11 NCAA titles. Lol.

And yea, the Drew II comment was great.

My favorite Walton line is either his infamous Beethoven line about Boris Diaw or this gem (paraphrasing).

"Eric Piatkowski with perhaps the greatest defensive play in the history of this Great Clipper Franchise." It was a bad pass which took the opponent out of bounds and he tried to save it throwing it right to Piatkowski. Gift wrapped steal. Oh, and in the middle of the 1st quarter of a regular season game lol.

I think it was in that same game that Walton made his other famous Piatkowski quote, saying "If Eric Piatkowski keeps playing at this level, he's going to replace Jerry West as the NBA logo."

Those are two of his best. Bill Walton is the greatest basketball color man of all-time. With Al McGuire a close second.

One of my favorite Walton memories involving Larry Johnson came during the 1999 Knicks-Pacers playoff series. After one of Larry's patented post-Hornets 15 dribbles in the post and bank shot moves, Larry raised his elbow and made the "LJ" sign. Walton replied, "Enough with the self-promotion of Larry Johnson." Lol.

As a prime hater of UCLA early on, I'll give them credit. Except for a terrible and selfish performance against Oregon on Saturday, they have played very well the last 6 weeks. Winning in Tuscon isn't easy at all. This puts UCLA right back in the passenger seat for the Pac 12 title. They don't play Oregon again, they get Arizona at home.

Cosign. I really didn't think they would make the tournament. Now they are playing like a four or five seed that could easily reach Atlanta, which ironically is unfortunate for UCLA fans, because it means that Ben Howland is coming back. And over the long term, that's not a good thing. While it appears that the Bruins have finally overcome their locker room demons, I think their talent is just starting to finally win out now that their leader, Shabazz Muhammad, is playing like one of the best freshmen in the country, perhaps the best. Although I still like Bennett from Vegas. McLemore is up there as well.

Kentucky -17 over LSU tomorrow. UK has covered only 1 of 5 SEC spreads. They might bust out, but that's an awful lot of points for a non-dominant team...
