They presided over the worst football team in history. Congrats, guys. Waynedale athletics really seems a trainwreck right now. You apparently have friendships interfering with judgment, not to mention the AD's son being involved in the mix. And then there's the bizarre fact that the school system permitted its AD to become a head coach. That's not normal. You create a system with no check and balances and this result shouldn't be shocking.
My oh my….where do I start? That’s what I love about these “forums”….having the chance to show how bad people look when they open their mouths .
”The coach and AD have to own this reality”. Do you really think that they have not had conversations about this past season. I think we all know that our AD is as competitive as anyone and I am pretty sure he has let it known that we can’t go through that again. However, what about the other stakeholders? The kids, parents, and fans? Like we have said on here in the past…it takes EVERYONE to get on the same page in order to remedy the situation. What are WE going to do to make sure it doesn’t happen again? Better yet, what can YOU do to help? You think you are helping by posting on here?
“Waynedale athletics really seems a trainwreck right now” Really? Let’s see….the wrestling team is the defending state champs and have a good chance at repeating. The softball team gave away the league last year and have a good group of young talent for the future. The volleyball team just won a school record of 20 matches and had no seniors. Both basketball teams are playing pretty well right now and we seem to always finish in the top half in the all-sports standings. Hmmmm…a trainwreck huh?
You don’t need to worry about “the AD’s son being involved in the mix” anymore. Rumor has it, he is done with football. I don’t blame him either after hearing and seeing the things people say about him and his family. I have actually heard his dad say that he doesn’t want to put his son through that for another 3 more years. What a SAD situation some of you people have created. You must be really proud of yourselves.
However, I saved the best for last…”And then there’s the bizarre fact that the school system permitted its AD to become a head coach”. THINK before you talk. Smithville’s AD is the head golf and girls basketball coach, Norwayne's AD is the head boys basketball coach, Rittman’s AD is the head football coach and Hillsdale’s former AD, who is now a principal in the school system is the head football coach. Plus, Dalton’s AD coaches multiple 9[SUP]th[/SUP] grade teams. Outside of the WCAL, Triway’s AD is the head baseball coach, Orrville’s AD is the head tennis coach, and Central Christian’s AD is the head baseball coach and asst basketball coach. At Waynedale, the last three AD’s before Reibe were head coaches at the high school as well. In today’s educational settings, this is VERY common. Head coaches need to be in the buildings. They can’t just create new positions to bring in coaches. I bet if they did that, YOU would be the first person to complain about them spending your tax payer dollars. So I guess all of those other schools are “not normal” huh?
