Doesn't address an area of need.

Well see what assets we have after the trade deadline. But he's third in terms of needs right now unless you're confident lbj is coming back in 2 years.

He's a lotto pick. I'd take him.

I now agree with this, even though I didn't until about a week ago. He can guard most 3s.

Really have no idea who I want right now. Have to wait until the trade deadline and offseason to see what moves the Cavs make. Leaning towards a Center and will probably stick with that, though.

It'll be a small forward. Center is a need only because AV is made of paper and can't stay healthy. It's apparent the Cavs lack a wing player; preferably one that can shoot from the outside.

Does this change if we sign Oden?

@WojYahooNBA: In pursuit of guard help, the Celtics have made rookie center Fab Melo available in trade offers, league sources tell Y! Sports.

I wouldn't mind throwing Boobie at them.

God..I really dont want to be "that guy", but I am starting to buy-in to Lebron coming back in 2014. Right now, I think they will go the route of a Center in the draft (Len or Noel), and with all of our cap space, fill in the missing piece (SF) in 2014 through FA. Even taking Lebron out of the equation, the SF class is still pretty decent that FA. Centers, not so much. You have Cousins as a RFA and then Bogut. So I dont think they would want to do the opposite.

I dont see any way Lebron stays in Miami. Bosh, Wade, Lebron, and 3 or so role players are all unrestricted free agents that year.

I am open to taking somebody like Mclemore, because I see Waiters being more of a 6th man in a Harden/Crawford role.

Probably not. You cant count on Oden. Slide Zeller to the (to back up TT) which I think he is better fit for in the NBA and have Oden back up Center.

Cavs are on ESPN tonight. Footwedge might accidentally catch a few minutes of the game... look for his analysis sometime tomorrow.

Very good points. I've actually been thinking about the possibility for a few weeks now. It honestly just makes too much sense.

There is going to be an abundance of young talent here, talent good enough that with the addition of LBJ, becomes a legit title contender.

It's funny that ESPN is starting to do to Miami what they did to Cleveland.

Kyrie's the man

If anyone looked perfectly comfortable in Clutch City, it was Kyrie Irving, who might already have catapulted himself atop the list of "players you'd want taking the last shot in a game."
There weren't many people picking him to win the 3-point shootout, which was made up mostly of 3-point specialists who live for moments like that. But Irving went all Craig Hodges on the people, scoring 23 points in the final round and taking the drama out of the event.
And he didn't just make Brandon Knight look silly in the Rising Stars game, he fit right in with the megastars of the league in Sunday's game, dropping a cool 15 points and 4 assists in 25 minutes (that's more minutes than starter Chris Bosh, for those who were upset Erik Spoelstra picked his own big man to replace Rajon Rondo).
It was simply confirmation that Irving is one of the elite guards in the game right now, in only his second year, possibly right behind All-Star MVP Chris Paul as the best point guard in the league.
The primary concern for Irving as he continues his ascent is his distribution. Even on a bad team, you'd like to see a lead guard get more than 5.5 assists per game (as a rookie, Paul averaged nearly eight assists for a 38-win Hornets team). His scoring skills are extraordinary, but if he can't elevate his teammates, then he'll need to play with a point-forward type at some point in his career. Hmm, wonder if there are any quality point forwards who have a fondness for Northeast Ohio?
Why did I just do that?

Call me crazy, but I think Irving is better than CP3. CP3 is a little more physical of a point guard, but Irving is much quicker and has better passing and ball handling abilities.

Although I think Lebron could come back to the Cavs, I don't want to plan on it. Center isn't as big of a need as a wing player and even if Lebron comes back we still need a decent bench player/trade piece to back him up. Centers are losing their value year after year; I mean look at how worthless a player like Howard is.

Agreed. Thats why I have such mixed feelings about what I want. It would be naive of Grant to bank on him coming back, in fact I would be pissed if thats what he did. But thats why I brought up their are other options at SF in that class. We also have a ton of assets in picks for trade bait.

Hoops: even the Miami Herald is biting on the possibility. http://www.miamiherald.com/2013/02/19/3241478/lebron-james-appreciation-of-kyrie.html

Guy on RCF with some connections says he has been "completely shut off from his normal sources"...so look for something to go down before the deadline. Most likely sticking to the plan of taking on contracts to give cap relief or trading away guys with expiring contracts.
