November is here, which means ESPN weekday MACtion has begun (I didn't name it that, half of Twitter did last year).

Ohio rolls EMU 45-14 on ESPNU this evening to kick it off.

lol Yeah I almost forgot. I guess they do this to gain some exposure but it certainly hurts attendance.

At any rate it was good to see Ohio dominate for a change after last week's disappointment.

Attendance in Peden on a Thursday was still about 20x what EMU draws at home on a Saturday, lol

Twas a good win. Didn't like how they played down to EMU's level until about the end of the third quarter, but at least they showed killer instinct and didn't let them stay in it until the end, like they had against UMass, Akron and Buffalo.

Upset Alert: Akron is up 24-14 at the half on KSU for the battle of the wagon wheel.

check that. Didnt score a point in the second half. I have to blame it on Bowden. Did a nice Pat Shurmur impersonation in terms of conservativism, short yardage play calling, and clock management.

Toledo moves up to 23rd in the AP and 25th in the coaches polls. Northern and Kent State are the first two out in the AP. OU is still getting votes as well. If Toledo can take care of business Tuesday against Ball State (not a gimme by any stretch), you could see Toledo and Northern both ranked when they meet on the 14th.

While the UT/NIU game is essentially a MAC semi-final for the championship, the East will be fun to watch these next few weeks with OU, Kent and BG all still in contention and still to play each other. Buckle up, it's time for MACtion.

That lofty #25 BCS ranking went to UT's head, and they didn't come to play. Period. :(

BG is pretty legit, IMO.

Good D and nice running game. Definately think it will be tough for OU

Whelp that sucked. One of the poorest efforts I've seen this team give the past two seasons. Even when they did something good on offense or defense they were shooting themselves in the foot with dumb penalties. The silver lining is that a win next week in DeKalb still would give us the inside track to the MAC title game.

Also, a shout out to David Fluellen, who now leads the nation in rushing yards, one spot above Jordan Lynch of NIU.

I think it'll be a real tough game. It's not an impossibility for OU to wind up 8-4 when you consider how they're finishing with three of the top programs in the conference (BG, BS and Kent -- at least they hit up EMU instead of either Toledo or NIU). No easy games, so they'll need to be in top form from now until the end of the year to have a shot at (a) a conference championship or (b) a bowl against a team more than 10% of the fanbase has heard of.

Does OU have anyone injured that might affect their game tonight?

Not that I know of off the top of my head. They just have this habit of playing to the level of any opponent not named Norfolk State or New Mexico State, which worries me. Last week, against a 1-8 team, they only led 24-14 with EMU driving late in the third quarter. Then they pushed them back out of field goal range, scored a quick TD and went on to win 45-14 -- a very misleading score. And they didn't beat East also-rans Buffalo, Akron and UMass by much (needing a late comeback against UMass, who might be the worst team in the conference).

That's what worries me. They could finish 11-1 and be the East champ...or 8-4 and wind up sweating the whole bowl selection process. I guess that makes it fun to watch the games, though, having no real idea what's going to happen. If OU wins 37-14 tonight, I wouldn't be too surprised. If they lost by a similar margin, I also wouldn't be that surprised.

Well their secondary has been plauged by extended / season ending injuries all year, but it's nothing new for this game
