I think posting girls in clothes being against the rules is ridiculous. Foul language should be allowed, there are filters for that. I think the personal attacks need to be monitored, but sometimes it goes too far. If someone is being an asshole, someone should be able to tell them.

I guess it just seems the OC is selling out a bit from what it was created for. I understand the necessity of the ads, so I guess I blame AdSense. :D

The rules are fine, it's the gross interpretation of the rules and the inconsistency of the moderation staff that is the problem. Also, C4F making up rules that the discussion has to go the way he wants too.

They are indeed the reason for a lot of the rules.

uhhh. no. I don't know what that has to do with my statement of being out of touch with internet ads and their effectiveness.

That's what you think, but it might just be your view of the banner ads in general. It doesn't necessarily mean you're out of touch.

?????

Based on what you posted my view is your view because it was baed on statistics.

My belief of me being out of touch is based on a lack of understanding with regards to why someone would be so willing to be subject to others actions when it comes to purchasing products.

Unless branding or reducing buyers remorse, if ads are effective they inspire action on a potential consumers part. That's not something I understand with regards to why people would desire that.

And that's fair. We all have personal perspective that sometimes doesn't fit within the ideal demographic. I feel the same way, personally, about ads in most cases.

It does not surprise me that you understand. Of all of those who participate on this forum I respect you for your willingness and ability to do so.

Having meaningless, useless crap such as luxury items distracts one from their true purpose, which is to put food on the table and save a little for future generations. Anything else detracts from the plan.

If I have the means to purchase useless crap why not purchase useless crap. Each month I have a certain amount that I put into a retirement plan as well as a amount I put into my stock portfolio. After I have done this and paid my bills I'm left with disposable income. I don't have kids or plan on having kids so why not enjoy myself and purchase some unnecessary but enjoyable products. If I see a interesting Internet ad I will click on it and learn more and maybe spend some of my money on some useless shit.

Depends on what you define the human experience as, I'm trying to enjoy this fleeting whirlwind we call existence while I can.

Hedonism, or is there no morality tied to it?

Oh, that was just my sarcastic asshole take on ConAlma's more detached, logical stance on things. Personally, I try to live by the Eric Cartman "I DO WHAT I WANT!!!" philosophy as much as possible without actively hurting others.

I do the same, except I actively try to hurt others. It's fun, give it a try!
