spoke with louisville's ad last night and was informed that nw's levy passage is irrelevant in terms of their future in the nbc. he said that there are three schools that don't want them in the league for undisclosed reasons(didn't say which schools, other than louisville isn't one of them).

he also told me that the only option for their replacement is salem, that they have an open invitation. beaver local, rumored on another site to be interested, is not. this could make for some tough dates to fill late in the season...

I wish this constant "Salem to the NBC" talk would end eventually. There are pluses and minuses for Salem joining the NBC, the biggest issue though is that Salem would be joining a league where they would be the smallest member--not an optimal situation. Salem currently fits nicely size-wise and competition-wise in the White tier of the AAC.

Providing that the AAC stays stable and no members try to bolt like some considered last year, Salem should remain in the AAC.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I am curious about the "undisclosed reasons" for some schools wanting NW out. I certainly hope that the scheduling is already being addressed as I don't see a levy passage in the near future for NW. The NBC athletic directors should be planning for the loss of NW as I understood they have already sumitted their petiion to withdraw.

I for one would love to see Northwest stay, I think they are very competitive in all sports. I don't think Salem is a good fit. I agree with skank let's add Lake.

If I had to guess, most likely Minerva and Carrollton would be the schools because of drive time.

If our situation somehow takes a turn for the good, our 2010-2011 schedule will be crazy for us. You most likely would think we were a parochial school.

Our 2011/12 will be a crazy from what were used to. Travel wont be as bad as everyone thinks. Everygame in NBC except one was between 45-70 minute drive already. That said, sucks leaving a great conference for such a lame situation here.

I would expect some "ville" teams and "parochial" teams.

Sorry to see Northwest go. Vic has done a great job elevating their football program to an extremely competitive level. The NBC in football just got a whole lot weaker. Maybe it's getting time for the big fish to look for another pond.

It's only stupid if the AAC actually lasts.

If Salem predicted right, it will work out better than reverting to getting blasted by the Red Tier teams year in and year out in everything but girl's basketball and volleyball. However, if it holds together the boys' coaches should be rightfully upset because the White tier seems to be a good place.

I am very sad to hear this is officially happening. I sincerely hope we can still see the "ville" at least once every couple of years. We just love to hate you guys, and honestly, is that not half the fun? I have great memories about the NBC from my playing days, the best of which was playing at the old Carrol Co. fairgrounds. Man was that a terrible place to play. Changing and showering @ the school and then bussing to the Grandstand where you had all the amenities of hay bales in your "locker room". Then you got to dodge the horse pucks as you made your way across the track to the field. I am so glad they have such a beautiful facility now. Another of my favorite NBC oddities is that Baseball backstop at Marlington. That is the field where I beaned someone for the first time. (totally accidentally). Good luck NBC. Hopefully we can see some of you again in weeks 1-3.

Step one: pass levy and get things going before we have more problems.

Step two: keep competing as we have.

Good luck to the NBC and Salem as the newest member! Northwest athletes and fans, we will survive this, but let's stop the bleeding before it gets worse and pass a levy!

I say we go out with a bang. What do you say we just win the whole darn thing in 2010! What a great headline; "NORTHWEST LEAVES THE NBC A CHAMPION"

Glad to see things are going in the right direction. I think this is a good article that shows that people are looking at this logically and intelligently. Looking forward to seeing what an independent schedule looks like!

I think they are saying they don't have a mileage for a property tax, but it would be just a 1% income tax. But you are right it is written weird, perhaps something is missing.
