I did not watch a whole lot of either convention but I always like to switch back between the networks coverages. I did notice some real differences and thought they were odd. I took a film appreciation course in college so I always pay attention to camera angles and how movies are edited because it is an interesting art. A friend sent me this article and it got me thinking. Granted it is a little over the top but it has some good points to think about how some people try to manipulate the public's opinions.

Fox used techniques of altering camera angles, video and sound feeds, and basic editing to try to make, well, Democrats look bad and Republicans look good.

I watched both conventions on regular network channels (mostly ABC), and at the Republican convention there were a few times where a camera on the crowd happened to focus in on an African-American.

Needless to say, the camera was there for about half a second and then quickly panned away to zero in on some other "normal" attendee of the racist Republican convention. I'm sure that wasn't by design. :rolleyes:

Naw...purely coincidence. Only Fox News manipulates the news. All the other mainstream media outlets restrain themselves and exhibit the highest standards of journalistic integrity in a "fair & balanced" sort of way.

Unfortunately today the media is more controlled by the bottom dollar and not ideology in spite of what you hear. The boundary between entertainment and factual news barely exists anymore. Considering 12% of the US is black, the republican's "2.1%" is less than 10% off the national average while the democratic's 26.2% is well above.

Maybe the democrats were racist against whites then huh while the republicans were closer to actual ethnic demographics of the US?

Clearly the "No you can't....without govt" message of the Dems is more appealing to blacks. There's a victimization mentality which the Dems exploit quite effectively. Same thing, to a lesser extent, with women...except, in that case, the victimization is imagined with Roe V Wade some 30+ years ago but they still vote out of fear of not being able to have a baby sucked out of them.

I think the Republican party welcomes all into their party that share like views, irregardless of their ethnicity, gender or color of their skin. The Democrats claim they are the party for 'women, blacks, and minorities, but in reality, they are only for those women, blacks, and minorites that fit their profiles. They don't like strong, independent women that don't need their help....Sarah Palin is a c***, Ann Coulter is a b**** Michelle Bachmann is f***....and Ann Romney "never worked a day in her life"(raising 5 boys).

They don't like strong independent blacks either... Allen West tells it like it is.

It's pretty much set in stone in our culture that the only noble and virtuous things that can be done for disadvantaged minorities are handing out freebies and making them dependent on the government. Hopefully that's starting to change.

I'm a Republican and I thought Fox and CNN both done a pretty good job on the conventions. MSNBC on the otherhand, is unwatchable.

You know, the reason there's been so much outcry over the "inflexibility" of early voting opportunities is because they've relied on the Church to deliver an incendiary message of fear and hatred to use group think and peer pressure to go to the polls to vote Dem en masse.

It is meant to curb illegal votes from illegal immigrants. "Disenfranchisement" of the black vote due to voter ID laws is BS of the highest caliber. The black vote is NOT the target.

What do the Dems offer them? That's the point. They vote inexplicably homogenously for Dems out of fear and hatred. Heck, only 70% of gay/lesbians voted for Obama in 2008 - are you telling me that the Dems offer minorities more, or that the Repubs offer them less than gays/lesbians? The Dems tell them they are failures, tell them the deck is stacked against them, and all they offer is a promise of more entitlements. I WOULD say they are remarkably ignorant to think they can even sell that message, but yet what DOES it say that the approach is so efffective?
