Using your 3rd down play setting it up for a 42 yd FG in the rain by a kicker who has missed all those kicks already is not smart. Take a shot down the field on that 3rd down!

The Tulane safety who had to be taken off the field in an ambulance apparently suffered a broken neck. His situation sounds really bad.
