Judge ruled that the trial will remain in Steubenvile and will not be closed to the media. Date has been pushed back to mid-March.

Just got this e-mail.

"They raped her... They raped her quicker than Mike Tyson raped that one girl... She is so raped."

That's what one local man said on camera about the now-infamous gang rape of a teenage girl by members of the Steubenville, Ohio, high school football team last August. The girl was carried, unconscious, to different parties and raped at multiple locations throughout the night. And the dozens of teens who were there didn't try to stop them, get help, or call the police—instead, they took photos and posted jokes about the attack on Twitter.

Police have been dragging their feet for months, but under Ohio law, failing to report a felony is a crime. And based on his 12-minute video, this man not only knew about the rape but witnessed it. It's outrageous that local authorities are sweeping this under the rug—but it's not too late for the special prosecutors assigned to the case by the Ohio Attorney General's Office to charge him and others involved.

Sign our petition demanding that Attorney General DeWine prosecute anyone who knowingly failed to report the crime.

I signed it and I'm going to send it off to everybody I know. I don't know what good it will do, but we have to try something.

We'll see what comes out of grand jury proceedings. I hope at least a few SHS coaches and parents face justice.

The sentence should have been at least 10 years in jail for both. What they were sentenced to is a mere slap on the wrist.

The sentence is a joke...I agree. They should be in a juvenile detention center and then off to prison for some more time. However, that sexual predator label that they now have to carry with them will negatively impact them for the rest of their lives.

I really hope that the State's investigation turns up more in this case and brings the rest of those involved (including the coach) to the forefront and more charges should be sought!

Based on the news tonight two teenage girls were arrested and it sure sounds like the Ohio AG is not fooling around. Who is next?

Quite defensive that even Youngstown has made more positive changes in the past 25 years than Steubenville...

I'd be proud. Not many cities can say that.

Get your facts strait kiddo there is not anybody in town defending any rapists . Its lies like this that cause all this hype . Go off and read some ,National Enquirer or another tabloid newspaper since that is where your intel is at. Im tired of all these idiotic, baseless accusations of people accusing the good people of our great town of not caring and defending a bunch of pigs . I dont like those little pigs anymore than anybody eles, probably more so. We all want people responsible for breaking the law to be dealt with. We have to wait until the findings . We are not going out in the night with pitchforks and lanterens to seek vililanti justice. Come back with another smart alec remark like I know you will . Just save all the dumb childish rips I do not want to compare our towns crime history ;Youngstown has the same makeup as Steubenville only larger .

Nobody in Steubenville is defending the rapists. The problem is that many people are still defending Reno, the sheriff, and the police. Until this stops, no healing will take place. Reno in particular has got to go. He is the face of the problem. I wrote a letter to the editor of the Herald Star this past Sunday. Here is the link:

http://www.hsconnect.com/page/content.detail/id/584540/Steubenville-needs-God-s-blessing.html?nav=5007

If you want to do something positive for the town, write you own letter in defense of mine. And call the superintendent. He needs to be flooded with calls.

Yeah I don't live in Youngstown but alright. I live in a town with a similar size to steubentrash.
And yes there are people protecting the rapists, even refuting the facts. Like your friend FWK for instance. Honestly that town has already had a negative spot in many minds, this is just the icing on the cake.
Go praise your football team please.... Let more girls get raped...
Then play mooney and lose. Good times.
