Program win. Huge huge huge boost of confidence for the Wildcats. Saw the W, but not in this fashion. Hats off the coach Kuntz for the halftime adjustments, and the great game plan with the henderson kid. Don't know much about field, hopefully someone can fill us struthers posters in on them. Go cats!

Big win. Not a program win. I'm sure Coach Kuntz would disagree with you.

Beating Hubbard, Poland, Howland, etc... those would be program wins. I'm positive that Coach Kuntz will not be satisfied with this win.

Field lost to Minerva in week 1, 41-20. They beat Ravenna Southeast tonight, 28-14. That's about all I know.

What are you talking about? Lakeview IS a program win. Easily. This is a state playoff team almost every year. Schools very similar in size as well. One of the top 5 schools in trumbull county the last ten years or so. Beating Hubbard is the same as beating Lakeview. Im sure Kurt LOVES this win right now and feels great about himself and coaching staff. Ask the kids on facebook like you do lol, they'll say the same. Huge huge huge win for the Struthers football "program"..... Haven't more than 5 games in how long? THIS is a program win. These days... yes it is.

Keep telling yourself that. Beating Lakeview is the same as beating Hubbard. Good one.

I don't doubt that he's proud of the staff and kids for this one. I am too. Job well done. All I'm saying is, he's not gonna be satisfied one bit. He'll say the same thing at the Gridiron meeting next week that he said this past week. "We're still a long way away from where we need to be."

Great teams don't hang their hat on wins in week 2.

I talked to an assistant coach after last night's victory who said it was an important win for the kids and the program....but they still had a way to go get better....a win next week sets up a big mid-season stretch of games...Brookfield, Hubbard....Poland......

Question, what year was the last time the Cats started 2-0?

Spread...

No comment... because you can't argue with that. Laugh at me all you want, and make fun of me all you want. I'm an easy target. I hope it helps you sleep easy at night.

What difference does it make to you, if I message a couple of kids on Facebook every now and then? I've also reached out to the team (players, and Coach Kuntz personally) through other outlets. I don't bother anyone. I don't have to justify or explain myself to you, or anyone else.

If you ever want to have a civil conversation at one of the games, I'm not hard to find.

I'm not trying to diminish the win over Lakeview at all. Lakeview has owned Struthers up until last night. It's a big big win, a turn the corner kind of win. It's great for morale, confidence, and momentum. But we both know that the schedule doesn't get any easier.

You actually think that if they go 2-6 the rest of the season, they'll look back and say, "So what if we didn't get a winning season again. We didn't win a conference game, and we missed the playoffs. We fell short of our team goals, but it's okay. At least we beat Lakeview in week 2."

Get real... Programs are defined by seasons, not individual games.

No made fun of you. Calm down. What I was merely getting at is you get your info from the kids on Facebook. The ones who typically know nothing at that. The program is awful. Let's be honest. Anything at this point vs a team like lakeview is a program win!! We may have different definitions of what exactly a program win is, but I feel that is was. Lakeview is a very solid program, am I wrong? Struthers is not, am I wrong? The only teams the wildcats play that are better is Poland Canfield and Hubbard. If they beat Poland I would jump for joy. Do I honestly believe they will? No. I don't. I want them to, idk. Thos team can go 7-3 with their best win at lakeview. I would define lakeview as a program win. With the current state of the program.

I'm aware that the kids aren't the best, or most professional, or most accurate, source of information. But they do have some idea of what is going on. They're not totally oblivious.

The only piece of information that I've shared with anyone, which I got from a player on the team, was the starting lineups. Other than Suchora starting at TE in week 1, instead of Fandozzi, my information was right on. Where do you think Ohio got the list of starters from?

If you're referring to who I think you are, you're right. He was clueless. I'll give you that. He's not on the team anymore, and I haven't talked to him in like 6 months. But again, he's not the only one I've talked to.

Of the players, I mainly just stay in contact with Koup anymore. He doesn't even use Facebook.

Is Lakeview a good program? Yes they are. Is Struthers an awful program? I don't think so at all. Still a ton of room for improvement. But nowhere near awful.

If Struthers is awful, what would be an example of a mediocre to good program?

Go Cats!

1997 is my answer.

1998: 2-1
1999: 2-1
2000: 2-1
2001: 2-1
2002: 2-1, maybe 1-2
2003: 2-1
2004: 0-3
2005: 0-3
2006: 0-3
2007: 1-2, maybe 2-1
2008: 0-3
2009: 0-3
2010: 1-2
2011: 2-1

My bad. I thought you said 3-0.

2-0, would be 2003. They beat Liberty and JFK to start 2-0 (Liberty finished 8-2 and JFK finished 9-1), but lost to Hubbard and Campbell in weeks 3 and 4.

The team isn't awful. The program is/was hopefully its a thing of the past (Pirone, Saunders)
A mediocre/good program would be like a Campbell right now. But thats going down.. fast.
