I more or less agree. The only point I might disagree with you on is that when the B1G does well and Ohio State beats B1G teams, those victories would be considered quality wins. When the B1G does poorly, those Buckeye victories aren't as tasty.

If USC is so deep and their defense is greatly improved, these absences shouldn't matter...

I'm just playing devil's advocate. Nobody is cutting LSU a break after losing one of the nation's top 5 players before opening day. Nor should they. This is football. Stuff happens.

With the playoff it won't matter. Win your games, you're in. An undefeated Big Ten team will not be left out of best 4. I'm not sure a 1 loss team would either but I can't say that with certainty

Ohio State would win the SEC this year. Indiana would win the SEC East this year. Hell, I think my grandma could grab the customers at the local nursing home and win the SEC East. It's the worst division in America.

Despite my avatar (and obvious allegiances), I try to be somewhat unbiased. I'm not completely sold on USC being dominant, especially now that it appears the Pac 12 is going to be tougher than usual to navigate through. With that said, they have as good of a chance as any with just their offensive trio (really, foursome).

Let me tell you something...the SEC is so much better than anyone in the country. The Big 10 sucks this season(maybe 1 top 15 team in MSU), Big 12 and Pac 12 are good but don't have the defenses in the SEC. The ACC is a tad better than the Big 10 IMO this year

The only reason an undefeated B1G school won't be left out of the BCS title race is because - well - the B1G is a BCS conference. It certainly doesn't mean, however, that the B1G representative in that playoff hunt is necessarily qualified to be in the "best 4" if the conference has had a sub-par non-conference season.

Based on what I've seen the past dozen seasons or so, here's how I'd rank the conferences in terms of across-the-board performance:

SEC hands down. The other BCS conferences aren't even close.

Big 12
Pac 12
B1G

ACC
Big LEast

The ACC? LOL

There will never be a situation in which the ACC is better than anyone besides the Big East; and that's only because the Big East is a D-1aa conference.
