"Football is a religion." Or so goes the increasingly overheard statement about our national obsession with the sport. And while tangible verification of this belief can be a bit challenging to come by, a sparkling $60 million temple of sorts offers some very compelling evidence of its accuracy.

This particular shrine is a high school football stadium in, of course, Texas. The good voters (worshippers?) in Allen approved a $119 million bond package three years ago, which included funds for the stadium, a fine arts auditorium and school transportation among other things.

What a joke.

What is the enrollment at MU?

Allen HS in Texas is over 5000.

I don't see why a new stadium which will last for decades is such a big deal.

The $6 million for the indoor practice facility was privately funded by just one single person though.

Wow, that's an impressive indoor football practice facility. When is Massillon's last football state title?

We won the AP title in 1972. We are the heavy favorite to win the state title this year.

I thought the thread was about over-the-top HS facilities.

It is, but you have to admit that spending $6 million on a indoor facility at a school that has not won a real title in almost 60 years is impressive.

We have the most pretend titles of anyone. We are absolutely loaded this year. We dominated our scrimmage. We will win the title this year.

My bad. I thought the joke was that a $190 million bond was approved by taxpayers for the stadium.

Misleading. It was a $119m bond and only half of that was for the stadium.
"included funds for the stadium, a fine arts auditorium and school transportation among other things."

The $$ was not only for a new stadium.

Oh, only 60mil for a high school stadium. That's perfectly reasonable then!

No, it wasn't really misleading. I read it, just didn't feel like typing the rest out on my phone. Lol

That's what happens when you actually pass a levy, so Ohioans are completely confused by it.

I get the "only in the SEC" thing...but wouldn't this technically be "only in the Big XII"?

In any event...I agree it's completely ridiculous and uncalled for. But if the majority of the people voted for it, then that's their problem.

How much in today's money would Paul Brown stadium in Massillon cost to build?

Interesting it was originally built as part of the Works Progress Admin.
