1st ban is a week. 2nd ban is a month. 3rd ban is a year.

Justin doesn't know how to do punishments nor does he know how to run a forum. And before I get the, "sleeper he has been running this place for over 2 years and its still going..". Yeah it's still going, but new member acquisition is about zero and the large swath of members didn't come here organically, they came here from the most abusive web forum in history.

Not only that, Justin has somehow convinced himself that the users who post, generate content, drive website hits are the problem and the solution is to attract the people who never post and only read occasionally. He's absolutely clueless on how to attract new, content generating, active users and is instead letting the old farts who barely know how to use a computer flood the forum.

Great business model.

You create and post under enough user names to make up for the lack of new membership. So does dlazz - you two (if you're even different people) complain about how this site is run yet neither of you can accept a ban. You just have to post your opinion on this message board so badly lol.

Actually, if the issue is "new member acquisition," then that is, in essence, the lynchpin to starting a forum.

Let me know when you get it up and running. I'll be your first member.

New member acquisition to a forum with less than 10 members is near impossible. Ever wonder why Justin is having such a tough time attracting new members? It's to the point now where I don't know if I can even save it.

Well I'd prefer this forum to not run itself into the ground. Banning the active users in support of the inactive users seems like the worst possible idea ever.

Don't break the rules - but it doesn't even matter since you post every where else on the site under a different name, so honestly, who gives a shit since you're not really banned.

ACTUALLY, new member acquisition to a forum with zero members is pretty easy if you know what you're doing. It's really only two elements that are needed: exposure and niche attraction. Justin did the latter well, and he took advantage of another forum's shortcomings for the former.

But there are many other ways to go about it. The fact that you think it's nearly impossible is actually quite telling in regard to how much you know versus how much you think you know.

Your signature is rather apropos.

Yeah maybe 10 years ago when internet forums weren't as prevalent. Want to start a forum on Nigerian Cattle Fucking in SE Ohio? It already exists.

Clueless, it's the blind leading the blind.

Um ... no. Marketers are doing this today ... as in right now.

The fact that forums are relatively prevalent has nothing to do with it. Blogs are even more so, and yet they're still immensely profitable because you can drive lots of repeat traffic to them if you know what you're doing.

Sorry, but what you're saying is factually untrue, and anyone with any web marketing background at all (even someone most of us would call a "newbie") would know this.

Targeted traffic + any niche in which you can be competitive + constantly new content = a profitable site ... whether it's a forum or a blog or just an old-fashioned website.

Anyone with a web marketing background who starts internet forums is unemployed or is a 10-tail success story. I'll stick with the former, you can go ahead and beat the odds.

Again, untrue. Anyone with a web marketing background doesn't start an Internet forum without a solid model for those three elements I mentioned.

Somehow, I think you're confusing an adept web marketer with some moron who thinks that, because he has an unsaturated niche idea and took a class on SEO, he can create a successful forum/blog/etc.

If that's the case, then yeah, but it's the same as any business venture.

But please, feel free to cite your web marketing experience and explain how targeted traffic + fresh content + a niche you can settle in doesn't equal a profitable web model.

He'll twist words you didn't even use then make an asinine claim about how you hate black people because you're in internet mod.

I think you are confusing me with someone else. Typically, I will move the conversation to something about Hitler or something about God. Hitler is obvious, but once you move something to God you can use faith to justify your erroneous argument. Faith is the ultimate trump card and the irony is too great to pass up.

Under the 'sleeper' identity, this is true.
