Nice weekend series to put the nails in the coffin.
Johnny Damon was DFA'ed this afternoon, Carrera called up.

Any hope of still contending means CLE needs to take at least 2 of 3.

From the Indians web site:
Carrera, 25, has spent the entire season with Columbus, where he hit .294 with 65 runs scored, 19 doubles, six triples, six home runs, 42 RBIs and 26 steals in 33 attempts. He hit .420 (37-for-88) with 21 runs, eight doubles, three triples, two homers and and 16 RBIs in 21 second-half games, hitting safely in 20 straight games from July 12-30.
He was recently named Player of the Week by the International League and Indians organization. Among International League batters he is second in runs (65), third in hits (116) and steals (26), tied for fourth in triples (six) and 11th in batting average (.294). He hit .297 off left-handed pitching and .293 against right-handers.
Carrera is expected to be in uniform tonight in Detroit wearing No. 12.
And this guy couldn't have played left field for us? What if...........?
Edit: But I'm about half past give a she-at.

Delusional expectations will do that. Remember, it's a .500 team.

Eric Wedge would be ashamed of how far this team's daubers are down right now.chippy10;1239936 wrote:this team wont win another game this year. they quit for the year book it.

Tribe now 8 back pending the outcome of the Whitesox game.
Was it really just a week ago we were 3.5 back coming off that huge comeback win over Verlander?

How could the starting pitching be this bad? I mean, i am tempted to go to spring training next year and see if i could get a spot on the team. 7 straight losses...roll tribe....

And they need to evaluate their pitching coaches. This is pathetic.

I'm glad to see Carrera called up...but I think it signals that the front office has given up on LaPorta. They seem content to play other team's garbage (Lillibridge, Rottino) SMFH

Yeah like pitchers that make 15 million a year (Lowe) are gonna listen to a guy making 150K a year.Glory Days;1239995 wrote:And they need to evaluate their pitching coaches. This is pathetic.

I don't know--that "attempt" he made on the fly ball in the 6th (?) was bad, real badHitsRus;1240004 wrote:I'm glad to see Carrera called up...

Masterson ERA 4.78
Ubaldo 5.08
Tomlin 6 something.
Lowe ERA Gosharuddies
I think this area needs addressed first. Maybe trade Ubaldo to Colorado for a couple of top pitching prospects. I would also trade Cabrera for a few more pitching prospects.
