why doesn't the US field anyone in the lower weightlifting classes? We don't have anyone that size that can compete?

I'm now a fan of woman's handball. Some chick just got lit up with a shot to the face.

She went down! (lol)

no, I was watching the coverage of the lower weight classes. Can't believe we don't have anyone in a country our size that can compete.

I'm so disappointed in London weather, the late beach volleyball matches the women are wearing shirts and long pants. :(

Hoping that Phelps gets on track and takes the gold in the 200 Fly tomorrow. Could really give him a boost for the 200 IM and 100 Fly, which will both be even tougher for him.

Really can't believe that Lochte gave up the lead in the 4x100 relay, and then got 4th in the 200 Free today. Really thought he had a chance at 7 golds.

Missy Franklin is a machine, winning the 100 Back after just qualifying in the 200 Free. Really happy to see Grevers and Thoman do well also.

Yeah, I saw that, and was like, wow, epic fail there NBC. At least wait to the next segment. Hell of an assumption that most people already know.

I normally could care less about men gymnastics, but I am watching for the epic fails. Guess it is like a train wreck, can't turn away.

Side note, and not referring to this thread at all. I love how people watch the Olympics and pretend to know what the hell is going on in all these sports. Some chick today cheered like crazy after some event like they did an awesome job. The commentators then proceeded to talk about how awful it was and the score was terrible.

To be fair, even some of these failures are maneuvers the average person couldn't remotely attempt.

I wonder as far as gymnastics if it's just the pressure or if these routines are that hit and miss for some, like 50/50 in practice. I'd think they nail it consistently in practice, but nerves and fatigue make it a tough go under the lights.

That's not really what I was getting at, but I've wondered the same. For one thing, they have to be nervous as hell. And like you said, even with practice and training, how often to they really "nail it"?

I'm not sure if it's because of the poor performance in the finals, but NBC has really pushed back showing the conclusion of the gymnastics tonight. They showed the semi-finals of swimming before these. I gotta wonder if they had captured a medal, if they would have been shown a little bit earlier.

I don't think that chinese gymnast has any nuts. He sounds like a fruit.

Gymnastics judging is corrupt. There's always some sort of shennanigans going on it seems.

WTF is up with having to pay cash to appeal, and if you win you "get your cash back?" How do we know ALL the cash gets returned? What a bogus way of making a payoff seem legit.

At national and world levels appeals cost cash even at HS events. I ref'd the NHSCA nationals for wrestling and it cost $50 to appeal there.
