[SP] If I was writing it, I would finish it like this. Since Batman seems to be pretty retired, it would have to be something pretty drastic for him to come back. It would be ideal to have Ledger's Joker back but I can't see anybody else stepping in and playing the role. Joker breaks out of jail...again...and wants to play with Batman one last time. The only to get the Dark Knight back? Kidnapping Alfred. Robin (who obviously has to be involved considering how this ended) goes and gets Batman. The Joker...in his sick way...allows Batman to find Alfred but he is wired to a bomb. If Batman saves Alfred, another bomb goes off and kills almost all of Gotham City. If he allows Alfred to die, he can save Gotham. Batman figures out a way to save both. It doesn't have to be Joker but seems like Alfred's well-being is about the only thing that would bring Batman back at this point. [/SP]

Went with some friends to see it again today. It's definitely better the 2nd time when you know some of the plot twists and can pick up on some things.

I saw the movie finally tonight. Here are my thoughts...

TDKR was good (one of the better comic book movies), but it wasn't as good as TDK (of course it wasn't; TDK was legendary) and count me in as another who thought the plot was a little too much / comical parts here and there.

I was really skeptical about The Catwoman going into the movie, but damn it... Nolan and Anne Hathaway actually pulled it off.

Can't believe I didn't see Miranda Tate as Talia Al Ghul. I watched enough of the cartoons to know Ras Al Ghul had a daughter that had a thing w Batman, and not a son, to know that it was going to be her. Really disappointed I didn't pick up on that / see it coming.

I actually thought this was likely Bale's worst performance as Batman. Not that he did anything wrong; just because his screenplay was so limited.

Hardy nailed Bane. Not as great as Ledger-Joker, but again... That was legendary so you can't necessarily expect that.

JGL was very solid. Definitely saw the whole potential Robin/NightWing/Batman thing coming. Just wish his name was Dick Grayson instead.

Personally, I think Nolan (and Bale) are done. I can see a spinoff with JGL happening, but I highly doubt Nolan will be a part of that. Also, I tend to think it would be a Nightwing spinoff, rather than a Batman.

Duno why, but I about died when I saw Dangle was Bruce Wayne's doctor. Also loved the Scarecrow being the judge.

Also, couldn't believe that I didn't pick up on that jail/prison being the "Lazarus Pit". Again, I watched enough of the cartoons that I should have picked up on that.

Wasn't a big fan, at all.

I set my expectations so high, and was a bit let down. Not being able to understand half of what the main villain is saying kinda put a dent in things for me.

Was your theater loud? I had about 4-5 words total I couldnt understand. I didnt think it was as bad as some.

I didn't have many issues either. I think there were only a couple words I couldn't make out.

I understood nearly all (not all) of Bane's talking. I thought the acting overall was good and the cinematography was incredible, I just couldn't get past the non-sensical plot. I'm not sure how watching it a few more times will make it more sensical.

I had trouble seeing things more than hearing them. Mainly because the idiot I went with showed up as the movie was starting, so we had to sit in the second row. FML.

Saw it again today. Was better the second time, as I knew what to look for and could tie the early points of the plot together without having to wait for them to be tied together. Made it much easier.

And the plot isnt as non-sensical as that review made it out to be. Could it ever happen? No. Its a damn comic book movie. But I dont see it as non sensical.

Its not as if Batman just returned to the city. By my count today, the timeframe made it about 2 weeks till he escaped and returned. He had his back fixed 23 days before the bomb would go off. Give about a week for the escape, and then 2 weeks till he returned...18 hours till it went off. And he is Batman, they dont need to show how he got back. Its what he does.

Destorying the bomb at any point was covered many times throughout the movie, and why they wouldnt do it. No need to explain that ay further.

All the cops in the sewer was the only part that was dumb, as they wouldnt put all the police down there at once. But that was Gordons call, and it was made in haste. Possibly even misinterpreted by Foley as Gordon just kinda yelled get every cop down there and smoke him out.

Batman Begins established that Rachel Dawes and Bruce Wayne knew each other from childhood. Despite Katie or Maggie's character (I preferred the former) the audience doesn't need to know more about their relationship - it is established.

In TDKR, Selena Kyle is introduced. The audience and Bruce Wayne knows nothing about her. She's introduced beating up a crippled Bruce Wayne and stealing from him, dancing with him at a benefit where she ends up stealing his car, him sort of figuring out who she is in might be the only scene where there is any sort of chemistry when he goes to her apartment, then she betrays Batman (who I think the audience is supposed to believe she didn't know he was Batman) to Bane.....all of this in a span of maybe 10 minutes of screentime and in the movie timeline the same amount of time over a period of at least three months.

Yet when Bats gets back to Gotham (inexplicably), he looks her up. That guy's a bit p-whipped if you ask me.

I enjoyed the film, the script was utter crap - I expected better from Nolan.

a nitpick (IMO) is people griping that Bane only needed to be hit in the face, or that over a time of 3 or 4 months that policemen don't need to shave, or that Bruce Wayne can magically show up in Gotham after being bankrupt and suffering in a prison for months.

I don't believe the "love" story is a nitpick, it is terrible writing.

Batman has always put his faith in others to do good. Its pretty much what he is built on. To put his faith and trust in someone who has wronged him isnt at all out of the question.

As for the scene that you said took 3 months, unless I am reading it wrong...he went to Selena Kyles place as Bruce Wayne, told him to meet Batman that night (not 3 months) and take him to Bane. When she betrayed him, she realized who he was. You could see on her face that she felt a ton of remorse, and had feelings for Wayne. She was a good guy from then on out...
