I know, seems pretty unlikely and both said that if someone had told them that, or if they saw it in a movie, they wouldnt have believed it themselves. Dad knows his stuff when it comes to animals and such, dude even owned a couple of alligators through the years, so if he says it was a mantatee then I have to believe him as he and my brother saw them at other times that week.
As far as him coming down without tipping. Pure luck I imagine, although he is an experienced kayaker.
