I don't need 5 weeks vacation working in a job I don't hate. I have been taking days just to give my nerves a break. Plus, he is giving the office a free week of vacation between Christmas and New Years which I believe he does every year so it'll essentially be three weeks.

I dunno dude.. I could go to Vegas alone 5 times a year. U add in golf vacations and 2 just isn't enough.

Would you rather be miserable for 47 weeks per year and happy for 5 or happy for 52 weeks per year? That is what I was looking at.

Now, if I actually liked my job and was only looking around for an increase in salary or something I would have a hard time giving up 3 weeks of vacation for a slight bump in pay.

Nah, it's a small operation (only 8 employees) and the salary they are offering me is already higher than they were planning on giving so I really wasn't too worried about it.

Congrats on the move. I made the same move from corporate world to small company 15 years ago and have loved it ever since.
