When that physical challenge seemed to be overwhelming did you achieve or can’t do win?
I ask the OC what physical challenge accomplishment are you most proud of?
I have a few but this one was crazy and physically stressful however I accomplished the task and set an example for my daughters.
I was 40 years old, I saw this wall (I enjoy architecture) it was made from old sidewalks broke up and stacked but it looked like River Slag Stone. I had two old Maple trees in my front yard that was difficult to mow around because of the roots. I got this crazy idea to do the same and build a wall around them. I study the wall, took picture an went on line to learn more. I planned out to make two large circle 20 foot radius, 24” inch high and fill it with dirt and plant ivy. Having no idea of how much old side walk I needed or where to get it. Few weeks later down the road from my house, A company where taking out an old cement driveway I walked down ask if I could have it … not a problem. Five dump truck loads of old driverway was now in the side yard. Note: that a hell of a lot of cement. With a sledge hammer, wheel barrel, shove and pick I started. Wife was pissed, the kids thought I was crazy, neighbors shook their head … you will never get this done, it to hard to move this concrete, how are you going to stack it, shit that a lot of work..
It took me one year to build both circles after it was complete … it was beautiful. OH! Forgot no dirt in it yet. I don’t know how we figure this out but I order 20 yards of top soil. It was delivery the wrong day and dumped in my driveway ( not in the circle like ordered) the day before my middle daughter graduation party at my house and 150 people potentially to show up. That night started at 10:00 my youngest daughter (12 years old at the time) and I shoved, loaded wheel barrel and a mower cart and filled both circle we completed the job at 4:00 in the morning. I took Boston ivy from the wooded area of my property and also planted it by 6:00 in the morning.
When you come to Belly house you can't see the walls the ivy has grown over it.
Three week ago I built a flower bed using old sidewalk extending over the bank in the back yard and next weekend I'm building another one for the wife after that there is no more old sidewalk in the woods anymore... Thank God
