Former player(s): Robbert Baggio (favorite player of all time), Fabio Cannavaro, Paolo Maldini, and Ronaldo (Brazil)

Current players: Andrea Pirlo (especially after Sunday's game against england), Buffon (greatest goalie I have seen), and Ballotelli.

Lionel Messi, easily.

After that:
-Ronaldo
-Xavi
-Iniesta
-Puyol (If all professional athletes played the game, or their sport, the way he does. Sports would be a lot better)
-Balotelli (cause I love a rebel!)
-Dempsey
-Silva
-Robben
-Van Persie
-Neymar

I love guys who have great control and dribbling skills, as you can probably tell from that list. Probably some of the best dribblers, passers and control/balance guys in the world.

Playing for Philadelphia. Actually had a solid season a few years ago and got the chance with the national team. I think those days have probably passed, but he is doing pretty well for himself in the MLS...which isnt near the joke of a league it was in the past.

I dont know about over-hyped. I think he has all the talent to become a regular and major contributor in the USMNT (US Mens team). But he got that deal to go over-seas after a pretty good year(s) for DC United when he was like 14-16. He took that deal, and rode the pine. Couldnt get in games and couldnt grow as a player. Just for a look at numbers. He played 3 years in the MLS, and played in about 98 games (2 teams, left Salt Lake after 11 games to go overseas). When he was overseas, he played in 43 games in 4 years, for 4 different teams. It stunted his growth and he has finally come into his own. The years he wasnt playing, 18-22, are some of the biggest years to be growing as a player.

But, at this point, it might be a little to late to start getting USMNT invites. Though he is ONLY 23 (as of like a week ago). So he could very well make it back to the top with some hard work. Just cant be stupid and be drawn into Europes top leagues if the come calling, because its too tough to play consistently over there if your in a top league. He could probably find a spot over there in a lesser league though, like most of our USMNT players.

Messi because he's one of the three soccer players I've ever heard of. I also watched a video of him that was pretty cool once.

Also that dude that headbutted someone in the World Cup.

The best player, imo, on the planet from the early 90s through 2006 WC. Yet he is known in America for this lol. One of my top 10 (maybe 5) players ever.

Early 90's seems a bit of a stretch, especially with Ronaldo. I'd say starting late 90's he was in and out of the #1 spot with Ronaldo.
