I don't really understand why he would kill it. There are only a few reasons to kill something(at least with insects): A) you feel threatened that it may cause damage to you and your loved ones or B) the pest is causing severe stress on your every day life.It was already outside. A bug outside, especially something as harmless as a beetle, should be left alone.
