If his math teacher did it then yes I'd say she's a predator. It doesn't say if they met outside of school or not and it didn't even happen on school grounds. I just think in this case it's a little bit of a reach to put the screws to this girl.

Again - a teacher he has or has had does it then i totally agree.
I think we agree. I just stated it a little differently. (and I wasn't sure if she had any authority over him or not.)

Yeah, rumors were flying and the school started the investigation....the kid probably could've saved her but probably got scared.

Here we go again.

Another thread where the exisiting law is ridiculous and should be changed to fit the opinions of certain OCers who are wiser than the general public.

Yeah, we should be able to bring a handgun to a park where little kids play.

So in your opinion there are ZERO current laws that are just stupid or need some kind of change?

I don't think people are arguing the law. They are saying that she wasn't in a position of authority over the kid. She doesn't fall under the "teacher-student" relationship thing.

Which laws? I'm not versed on all the laws...federal, state, municipal, etc.

Might want to ask LJ about this one, I think he was a cop for 3-4 years.

Age difference or not...if you are a teacher, or a coach, or an asst coach, or an upaid volunteer I think you need to stay away from personal relationships from the students/players.

It really isnt that difficult. Do not bang the students/players.

You're right. She should receive 19 lashes with a knife sharpener.

If she's an assistant volunteer coach and the kid has nothing to do with that sport, there really isn't overlap there.

I volunteered coaching and was hanging out with a girl who was still in high school. She was also in high school while I was still in school. She had nothing to do with my sport and the age difference wasn't 5 years but I don't see that as being so different.

I agree. Anyone employed by the school falls under "position of authority".

I knew a couple of cheer leaders who were volunteer coaches after they graduated. If their boyfriend was a year younger, should they have to stop dating because one was still in school?

They met school, period.

From a public relations standpoint, neither lawmakers nor schools can condone a minor/adult sexual relationship.

There's your answer.
