Students hook up with teachers all the time. This one seems a little stupid. This law should change.

[LEFT]Megan Crafton, 22, Indianapolis, turned herself into police on Friday with her attorney's assistance, said Lt. Mike Turner of the Shelbyville Police Department.Police first learned in February of a possible relationship between Crafton and a male student, Turner said, and conducted a "long investigation looking into all the evidence in the case."Crafton bonded out of jail the day of her arrest, Turner said.Crafton admitted to police that she performed oral sex on a member of Shelbyville High School's boys basketball team in January, according to a probable cause affidavit.

I don't have an issue with 5 years, but I do have an issue with people in a position of responsibility having sex with students. Although I'm not sure assistant cheerleading coach counts as a position of responsibility.

a 17yr old can drive and can have a job - i think it's ridiculous they're going after this chick when in less than a year he'll be 18. I don't have an issue with the age difference. But I don't think teachers and students should be having sex. Even if the students are 18. (GTFO with that shit, right? If his math teacher did it then yes I'd say she's a predator. It doesn't say if they met outside of school or not and it didn't even happen on school grounds. I just think in this case it's a little bit of a reach to put the screws to this girl.
Again - a teacher he has or has had does it then i totally agree.

1) If she is only an assistant cheer coach and does not work for the system in any other way and the age of consent in Indiana is at least 17, then I don't see the problem.
2) Why tell the cops, parlay this to blackmail her for some additional action.
