Unfortunately the error will stand. But in my view, the ss should get the errorr, not Votto. Come on, the throw was not that bad.
It's too bad that a play like that can't be reviewed. But in baseball, you can't really review something like that because there are no dead balls like other sports.

Even 8 won't win it now, after 3 unearned runs off Simon after one of the worst calls I've ever seen an ump make that prolongs the Indians 7th. Santana was obviously a force out at 2nd both before Cozart adjusted the position of the ball in his glove and after. Atrocious call! Timeout was called right after the play. That is a dead ball. They do it for home runs. They could do it for much, much more.
That is an embarrassment to the umpiring profession.

A throw in the dirt, or a pitch in the dirt always goes against the thrower, but yet fielders of bouncing balls regularly get errors on hit balls in the dirt that are more difficult than a lot of the throws in the dirt that go against the thrower!Footwedge;1206681 wrote:Unfortunately the error will stand.
