I thought the same thing - your body surrounds the base on the outside of the bag before you attempt to get a body part onto the bag. Cozart after a bunt that was just barely too much left, over corrected and hit it right back to the pitcher. Of course, the ball tailing inside hard had something to do with that - maybe he should have pulled the bat back for a ball.

If Kipnis picks Votto's grounder with his momentum going the wrong way, would the play at first have been any closer than it was on Cabrera's throw and have been an out? I think probably not.

Don't understand why he doesn't throw more breaking balls, especially when his velocity is down like it is tonight. Lot easier to get a hit when you know he's throwing fastballs.
