I tried this in middle school i think. went to pull myself up on the first pegs and the peg slipped out, cracked me on my head as i fell back and i never tried it again.

Yes. It's a bitch. A lot of wrestling rooms used to have them. I don't see many wrestling rooms with them these days though.

The key to the Wall was to keep the peg close to you chest and shoulder area and not to extend your arms. Keeping you arms flex and pulling with your forarms ... The rope was different beast hand strength (grip was the key) and less body swing as possible using the arms, and shoulder as the pulling force.

The rope always seemed pretty easy. This is the first I've seen the pegs.

Never could do either.

My best friend was an animal at both though. He'd climb the rope without using his legs, didn't see many people in my school ever do that.

A staple in the wrestling room back in the day...so was a rope which I see less and less of anymore. Now it's just a pull-up bar.

For any of the older guys who wrestled...did coaches ever actually wear singlets like that? Because I see it in movies a lot but I've never encountered it myself.

So were coaches just that ridiculous back in the day or is it a hollywood thing.

I still don't have trouble with the rope, never had the pegboard in our room though so don't know how I'd do.

That's an old freestyle singlet and yes, it wasn't uncommon to see them.

I've seen the singlets, hell we used to bust out the old singlets as the third singlet for tournaments sometimes. But I have never encountered a coach wearing it especially not over a shirt like that.
