Bath-Fairlawn-Medina Area is what you are looking for.

Revere school districts are the best. (unless you go all the way up to Hudson/Solon) Medina is also very good. In the Bath/Richfield/Revere area you are in/near Cuyahoga Valley National Park area, you need a 300k+ budget, but you can find great property.

I just moved from Fairlawn after living there for 4 years. And there are plenty of good places in a 20+ mile radius of Akron to raise a family.

My girlfriend is from Hudson and it is beautiful. The little downtown area is great and it's close enouh to everything while also seeming like a small town. I've heard the schools are great.

My girlfriends dad is a lawyer and makes the drive to Cleveland every day and says traffic isn't to bad. The new Goodyear building should also be opening in Akron soon bringing a few more jobs.

What's the little town near the bike path with a winking lizard and fishers. That little town seems really nice and I believe they go to hudson schools and is closer to Akron.

FFT ---- welcome back to Ohio, hopefully. There are some very good restaurants in the Akron area: Ken Stewart's Grill; Diamond Grill; Ken Stewart's Lodge come to mind right away. The Akron Aeros (minor league team) play downtown in a very nice stadium; Firestone Country Club (host of a PGA tour event) is on the south side and is among many, many excellent golf clubs in the Akron/Canton/Cleveland area. The others on here have weighed in about the 'burbs ---- several nice areas to choose from, and I am sure there are several school districts that offer excellent educational opportunities. Generally speaking, I think you would like the area. Good luck.

I grew up in Hudson and never really understood why people enjoyed downtown so much. I always thought it was boring with nothing but womens clothing shops. Now that I've moved away I can def see the appeal of it. Hudson does a great job of making you feel like you're in a small town, the festivals and stuff like that are pretty cool.

Hudsons is a good place to eat if you get a chance, pretty good stuff.

Thanks. This is all pretty preliminary, as we're just evaluating options. We're a little concerned about the overall political/business climate in OH (though we'll see how the recall elections go today--maybe WI will be worse). Lots of factors to evaluate, but with another child on the way, we're looking at taking steps to cut back some of my hours.

I live in Akron. It's like any area. There are great areas to live in or near Akron (Green, Copley, Firestone, Cuyahoga Falls) and ... not as great places to live.

Trying to break the whole thing down seems a little overwhelming, but if you've got any specific questions or topics, let me know. Be happy to talk it over with you. I've lived in North Akron for abour four years, so I don't know everything, but I'd be happy to share what I do.

KR I ahpgree but recently with some of the new places like one red door flip side it has became a better area. Plus you always have the amazingness that is main street cupcakes

Akron isn't as terrible as I once thought it to be. Hudson seems to be the place to move for the upper middle class managers I work with. Downtown Akron has some decent restaurants (Crave is delicious) and like others have said, the Aeros, Firestone, and Canton are near by. I commute from Cleveland to Akron (Goodyear), so if you don't mind a drive, there are some decent Cleveland suburbs that might work (such as Westlake).

Yeah I thought Akron was a better version of Toledo in all honesty however I don't like the area as much. Perrysburg-Sylvania-Maumee suburbs of the town are just awesome and traffic is never heavy. Also I like the fact that there is a lot of open fields just 4-5 miles away from downtown. However the fact Cleveland is close is a plus, Detroit is still a 40 minute drive from Toledo
