Leake isn't spotting his pitches, like a soft tosser needs to. He needs to live on the outside corner and keep the ball down. That's when he was at his best last year.

I mean the throw was bad, but it basically hit Meso in the glove. He just whiffed.

Yeah, Mes shoulda had that. But he's a 23 year old rookie catcher. He's going to struggle. And the 2-11 record isn't his fault. Seriously.

I disagree that he had plenty of time. I think that's a big reason why he didn't catch it because he tried to get the glove to the plate too fast, but even if he did pull it off as fast as he tried I think it is questionable whether the tag beats the foot to the base! Bruce got an assist earlier on the pitcher's bonehead try for a double, but his throw didn't look very fundamentally good.
