I like the consumption tax plan for a few reasons. The rich will pay more taxes because most are going to be purchasing more expensive items. The tax would be taken at the time of the purchase or in payments thereafter closing a good amount of the loopholes in the curent system.

flat tax for everyone and a 7% consumption tax on everything except groceries. All schools can be private. Make pot legal and tax it at the consumption tax rate. 3 strike felons get the death penalty within 2 weeks with no appeal.

Just chiming in to say that USPS is a completely self sustained entity which receives zero tax dollars.

Carry on everyone.

Bingo...and yet another way the politicians can spend our money.

It is no more tax-payer funded than GM or Chrysler. I understand people disagree with the bailouts, for good reason, but those companies are not funded by tax dollars. A one-time bailout notwithstanding.

Kinda like it is now. I love how the union for the road/parking lot pavers "pad" employees hours the end of the summer. They end up collecting more unemployment, which is bull shit anyways. They are capable of working all year, they just chose not to.

Theoretically you would tax just all goods and services. Practically you have the same issues of progressive taxation vs. such a flat tax, avoidance/evasion (and black markets) and the requisite enforcement as a result, plus the transition shock of paying another 30% or whatever for those goods and services.

The existing tax/revenue structure is never going to be able to support current levels (and trends) in govt spending, I don't care what rates and brackets you want to throw out there. Europe taxes pretty much everything we do, at generally higher rates, PLUS they have a VAT. I believe it's coming. Current GovX is not sustainable without finding new/additional revenue streams.

I don't mind paying taxes but I truly believe that Active Duty Military should not have to pay income tax. It would give me about $350 more a month which would be nice.

Give them back the money that was taken from their revenue many years agao and see where they are at.

It may be different or they may still be straddled with high pension costs that can't be sustained with shrinking revenue forecasted to continue.

Oh yeah totally looking for special privileges. Please. Get a fucking life. There are a lot of people barely making it in the Military. I'm not talking about myself.

If you are active duty and barely making it, its nobodies fault but their own.

The enlisted members of the military get all those special privileges that he just listed.

Hope this helps.

Exactly.

When you are offered free housing, free meals, discounted groceries, discounted shopping. You are being a complete idiot if you are barely making it.

Yeah because people with families can live off of say E3 pay barely. That's 600 every 2 weeks.

Maybe if both partners worked, aka no dead beat parents, wouldn't be an issue? That's $1,200 ever 2 weeks. Plus free housing, meals, etc... Keep on trying though, this is hilarious.
