And what's your point? They shouldn't have had an All-American because nobody was necessarily a superstar, rather they played exceptional as a TEAM.

What thoughts? No one stood out on offense at all obviously. The only chance on offense would be a lineman but there was rotations, injuries, and illnesses early in the season that deterred anyone from getting a shot. Our defense is a great as a unit which takes away from certain guys getting mass stats. Its a very balanced defense in terms of produced, not one guy stands out.

that's totally fine. Go get the team accolade by wining the Rose Bowl and that stuff will take care of itself.

Its all political anyways.

Oh from reading the other threads on the forum I thought we just pulled the trigger every time we wanted to start a new thread about a team we didn't like.

Don't have any thoughts.

If some guys return next year, we could/should have some all-Americans, but this year, i'm not terribly surprised.

Agree with others....no one was really deserving of that.

I would think Coleman and Heyward would get some mention for AA.

Very young team with no superstars. Just wait till next year.

I'm not surprised. I agree that no one really stood out enough to be named an All-American. I was, however, surprised at how few all-conference players we had when we won the conference.

I thought Kurt Coleman and Heyward were quite good players. Would have thought they merited some mention on that list.

Yeah, what you say is true, but they did get robbed by the Big 10. Not saying I felt any Buckeye was an AP all american, just saying that a team who won the conference for the 5th time in a row should get some love from the Big 10

I believe this shows even more how ridiculous it was for the way some fans tore Tressel and the coaching staff apart this season. OSU has a fairly young team, and this was a rebuilding year for OSU. Yet, they were still able to go 10-2/7-1, win yet another Big Ten Title, finish in the Top 10 of the BCS Standings and will be playing in The Rose Bowl.

And, to say top programs do not have rebuilding seasons is untrue. This is somewhat of a rebuilding season for USC, and while they did beat OSU, they were not able to win the Pac 10 which is far from being the elite conference in FBS. And, USC(8-4) will not be playing in a BCS Bowl this season. Nor will Oklahoma, another traditional power that will not be playing in a BCS Bowl after going 7-5 this year. LSU(9-3), is another team which is going through a rebuilding season. The losses to #1 Alabama and #3 Florida are understandable, but LSU also lost to Ole Miss(8-4) a team which is unranked and lost it's final game of the season to Miss State(5-7).

PSU(10-2) will not be in a BCS Bowl, and Michigan has gone from one of the top 10-15 programs in the country to finishing in a last place tie in the Big 10 with Indiana. UM now struggles to remain in the top 10 of a conference with 11 teams, let alone be among the elite programs in the country.

Right....OSU wouldn't have the same success either if they were in another conference. Just bringing up us getting beat by a middle Pac 10 USC at home says it all. The Pac 10 has been dominating the Big 10 all decade and is far superior I would say.

As for rebuilding I have been hearing this every year for the past 4 years...Next year is our year....blah, blah, blah. Well what happens when we lose a few key players to the NFL draft this year? Is next year a rebuilding year also?

I was thinking the same thing.

With the prospect of losing about a dozen juniors early to the NFL, this "wait till next year" talk about how good OSU will be - and the number of All-Big Televen and All-Americans the Buckeyes will have - is a bit premature.

OSU never re-builds it re-loads. There are plenty of talented underclassmen sitting the bench and waiting their turn. Unfortunately since OSU is an NFL farm team, the Buckeyes rarely keep players long enough to go from good to great.

I have a hunch that next season OSU will look very similar to what they looked like this season: A good but not great team that will challenge for the title of a once proud but now mediocre BCS conference and back-door its way into another BCS game.

It's just the way it is.
