There's more to life than making money. Sometimes its worth to take the extraordinary effort of getting free tickets, driving 3 hours for a game, and then driving back home on ONE Sunday in your entire life.BR1986FB;1157789 wrote:Correct when I can do the SAME thing from home WHILE making money.
Perhaps I'll explain it in a language you'll understand...

I'm not defending the pick, just giving insight as to why they took him.wes_mantooth;1157879 wrote:Wish the saints would have traded up to get him.....I haven't read one good thing about him.

I look at i like this. I am not being paid to scout these players. If they think he is worth it there, then I'll believe them. I have never doubted Heckert before, and won't start now. People like Mcshay and Kiper give this notion of "sixth round talent" or "reaching"..it's all bullshit to me.wes_mantooth;1157881 wrote:Yeah I know. I am just shocked they did it.

Hughes' strength is plugging the gaps with his big frame and being a stout run stopper. That's why the Browns wanted him. Our run defense was still horrible last season. Taylor and Rubin can't play every down and be effective.

I have to laugh when people use Kiper, McShay, or any of the scouting services as references. These are all made of people who aren't talented enough to get hired by an NFL team.DeyDurkie5;1157882 wrote:I look at i like this. I am not being paid to scout these players. As an outsider, a rival fan of the steelers, I guess I will chime in.
The QB has always been one of the most important spots on the field, and nowadays it is evern more so. The passing game is more important now than ever before in the league. Running attacks and being a great team because of running has really taken a backseat. Peterson and the VIkes took off when Favre was there. Gore in SF was great, but it wasnt until Smith started to be able to win games did they take the next step.
The browns were horrible at WR and I think that should have been their first pick. Richardson, yeah, he is good, but you guys needed to go WR eary and often. The old QB thing......well, I am not going to say anything other than if a team with a great track record of drafting guys gets him then maybe it gets talked about as a good move, but the browns dont have that luxury.
I think the jury is still out on McCoy. WHen you dont have any wideouts to throw to and have a scheme on offense that looks like it is week one in the preseason, it is hard to really stand out.
The defense was really good last year, and that is hard to do when the offense is was as bad as it was.
I have to agree....some headscratching moments there for the browns.
So that probably means they will prove everyone wrong

Ya know..I dont have much love for those pundits, but they have watched more film on the guys than everyone on the OC combined. Do they miss on some? Sure they do. thing is..when it is all said and done no one really remembers what the hell they say. They have a perfect job with no accountability to what they say or evaluate players.Al Bundy;1157928 wrote:I have to laugh when people use Kiper, McShay, or any of the scouting services as references. I am not saying that people on the OC know more, but people in the NFL do. If these guys could accurately predict what every player was going to do, there are many owners that would pay them millions.thavoice;1157932 wrote:Ya know..I dont have much love for those pundits, but they have watched more film on the guys than everyone on the OC combined. That's not shocking considering they took a dude from Canada in another pick that everyone hated instead.
