It needs to be 8. 5 BCS conference champions(no Big East) and 3 at larges with a mandate for a spot given to undefeated mid majors.

Lol, you include the ACC over the Big East? Just curious as to why?

Even if it goes to 8 at some point, I think we're done with autobids and I also doubt there will be a requirement for a participant to be a conference champ. It'll be interesting to see how they end up doing the selection and distributing the money.

This is the way it should. Top 8 make it in. Period.

I'm fine with top 8 because they would have to beat someone else, but I didn't like it last season when they picked two teams from the same conference who had already played.

I like 8. I don't think the bcs conferences should get a auto big. just the same way it is done now but the top 8 get in.

This. ACC isn't a top tier conference, but their best teams are better than any team in Big East, most years.

The records indicate otherwise. But believe whatever you want. A "traditional" name like Florida state and Miami for whatever reason carries more weight than on field performance.

I don't even care about that. Can't punish a team for already playing a top 8 team. If they are one of the top 8 in the nation at the end of the season, let them in.

Does ND count as a mid major?

They'll probably have a deal that if they're in the top 20 they get in the playoff.

I would be fine with it in a playoff (they would have to beat a few more teams as well and then they would have earned it imo) but in the current system I thought it sucked.

The Big East is awful except for West Virginia, who's gone! The ACC has some bite in it at least, Florida State and Miami won't suck forever

What does that even mean? Has some bite in it? FSU is the most overrated team in the country every single season. WITHOUT FAIL. People like you keep thinking they're this great thing, but they prove you wrong every season. How many times in the last 3 years have I heard "The U is back"? lol give me a break. We all saw how great Clemson is when they got throttled by WVU. A WVU team that had 2 BE losses by the way. NC State? Man handled by Cincinnati.

You listen to all the shit you hear on ESPN and take it as gospel. Watch the games and look at the facts.

Since Va Tech, Miami, and Boston College left the Big East for "greener pastures" the break down looks like this.

BCS bowl games:
-ACC is 1-8
-The Big East is 4-4
-Head to head in BCS bowl games the BE is 2-1

In the 8 years since the split, the Big east's top team has finished ranked above the ACC's top team 6 of the 8 years. (Not just WVU either, Lousville twice and Cincy too)

ACC has had 4 teams finish in the AP top 10
Big east has had 6 (Lville twice, Cincy once, WVU 3 times)

The ACC is getting stronger though right? adding Pitt and Cuse. Well since the split, Cuse has won a TOTAL of 9 BE games (average just over 1 BE win a season)
and Pitt has ZERO outright BE titles since 1991 when it started. They have 2 shared titles (only one since the split)

The Big east is losing WVU who won 3 of our 4 BCS wins over the last 8 years, but adding BSU who has 2 BCS wins of their own. and I'll take any of the other 5 additions to the BE over Syracuse lol.

I could continue to throw figures out there on why the ACC is worse than the BE, but I've got stuff to do. Maybe later.

They are both mid-major type conferences. No one really gives a shit.

You have to assume that is the case of they are in the top 8. Otherwise, they wouldn't be.
