Our bank (USAA) just called my wife and said our card was used for 4 transactions at a Walmart in Sarasota, FL. One for $99 and three for $90. Motherfuckers.

I wanna know which one of you did it. That was a stunt and if I ever find out...

Wife was getting ready to call USAA back to figure out what we need to do. I'm assuming it will be the same, they'll just send us new cards with new numbers.

How do you think they received your information? Are you talking about your personal card, or your American Express Black Ohio Chatter card?

lol, just my personal card. No idea how it would've been hacked. I can't remember the last time I used it online, if ever.

Wife just called me back. It was her card info that was stolen, not mine. USAA has taken care of everything. That was easy.

My wife and I had 5 k taken out of our account. Someone in tokyo and thailand. Was taking atm withdraws 400 a pop. No idea how, think my computer may have been hacked while paying online. Good news was bank refunded immediately

It does bring up a good subject though. I dont know the specifics, but they say you are protected more using a credit card than a debit card. Now, I imagine your banks will do what is right, like in this case, but from what I have read by law debit cards are protected as much in what banks HAVE to do.

It would be foolish for them not to make it right tho.

This happened to me a few years ago. A bunch of stores around Polaris were using wifi to transmit the CC data and people in the parking lots were hacking them, selling it online, then someone else would print cards with your info. They they would swipe it at local stores wherever they were. I think it was like $600 in 20 minutes.

Huntington was awesome about it. It was after hours, so they locked the card, sent me to an ATM to get cash, then after the cash came out, they registered it as stolen and the atm sucked it right in and they cancelled it.

Got the money from the chain stores back in like a day or 2, but I guess the stores can fight the chargeback? Some little store fought it and it took me like 15 days to get that money.

Yeah...they can fight the charges because technically they should be looking at your ID when ya use it.
It may just be how it seems, but to me it seems like when I am out of state they check your ID more often when using debit/credit card than in Ohio. It my just be my perception and such but it seems that way

I've got two stories like this, one happened to me, the other to my parents.

The time it happened to me I had just finished running a half marathon, so I was a little tired when I got home. I get online before I go to lunch with my parents and fiance and luckily enough I happened to check my balance. Noticed 2 $400 charges from Wal-Mart in Tuscon at 4:00AM the day before... so I flip shit, call the bank (BoA - have since stopped using said bank) and tell them what happened. I tell them we need to close the card and they need to send me a new one. The retard on the other end thought I meant close my account, and she proceeded to take the money I had in there and send me a hard-check for the balance that came like ten days later. I realized two days after I had called that I had no money in the account, and was like wtfbbq? So I called back and they said I had requested to close the account... I was like, so... where is my money? I had to wait about another week to get my money. It sucked. They did refund the fraud charges though, so I guess yay for me. But like I said, I don't use them anymore. To be honest, the only reason I had them at all was because I used to live in NY, but that's another story...

My parents actually found out who the people were that used their card. They asked the merchant where there card was used where the products were shipped to, and the morons actually had it shipped to their house. My parents called the cops but they basically said they couldn't do anything. I have to feel like these people just never get caught and if they do don't get prosecuted. Cops must look at it like there's no loser bc you get your money back and fuck the banks? Idk. Its nuts.

TL;DR - BoA sucks, and don't shop stolen goods to your actual home

How that ya mention it..it has happened to me before.

It was like 5 charges of only around 20 bucks. Some internet company from out in California. I went it and asked wth and they explained, and the week it was used I was on vacatio at lake james in indiana and didnt even have access to a computer or the web up there.

They refunded them quicly and I had to fill out some affadavit form. Apparently I wasnt the only one that had those charges

I had a 4500 charge for a hotel in Israel once. That took awhile to get figured out and the ex wife quickly had us change banks.

I've never had any problems. I always use my credit card, never debit, unless for some reason the place doesn't accept discover.

Discover seems to be on top of their game as well. I was in Florida for spring break, made a few purchases and Discover emailed me about suspicious activity and I had to verify some link or something. I never did because I knew I made the purchases, so they even called me to inform me and I just told them I was in Florida for spring break.

Our credit card is Discover and we use it online and while traveling. Not sure how the pricks got the info from her debit card. Probably some asshole waiter or something.
