If you dont need to make tight turns buy a garden tractor like a Cub.

We have Kubota Commercial Zero-Turns
32 HP 1 has a 60" deck the other has a 72" deck.

Dude has 1.5 acres to mow and the ferris goes 8 MPH. I would recomend that model or the one above. Either way he would have his yard mowed in no time.

I was wrong about the Evolutiin. It does come in up to 52 inch but its overpriced for residential use at $6900. And my personal preference is to have a seat with a back, NOT a motorcycle/ crotch rocket seat.

Since the OP already trims with a push mower, a Z is overkill and overpriced. Get a garden tractor and save money. Or get a Z and do away with the push mower.

For 3K you're not gonna touch Ferris, Scag, Hustler, ExMark, Grasshopper, Dixie.

Cub Cadet or John Deere would probably be your best options. I would look at an independant Cub dealer as opposed to Lowes or Home Depot. Same for Deere. The dealers will know much more about them.

There are a ton of lesser know zero turn mowers out there but I have no clue on quality.

Cub does make a zero turn garden tractor.

I have owned Scag and Gravely 48" cut, both commercial grade with bagger attatchments, damn pricey little bastards, Gravely was 10K new in 05. Really nice, both of them. I've operated a ton of them at different times and find that the Exmark has by far the best deck, even heavy grass is laid out nice (no clumps). But those are commercial units.

I would honestly check on craigslist for a used commecial mower that you'll surely find in that price range. For the use you'll be giving it you'll get the quality you're looking for that someone has taken the depreciation on already. As long as you get it compression tested to ensure you're not dropping in a new 21/23 hp Kawasaki engine, you should be good.

No doubt about it. Consider a used commercial grade over buying something less price that's new.

My buddy uses scag's, I told him about this thread. He mentioned doing ditches with his zero turn scag, getting it on two wheels and the frame doesn't creak, squeak or anything. Heavy made equipment. Friend said the same thing as ytown- get on craigslist and buy a commercial grade used.


Molded in cup holders are cool.
