Cut the safety net. Behaviors change. People go to work to feed their kids.isadore;1160931 wrote:an Bill gates children are not starving which like all your statements proves nothing. Cut the safety net, significantly reduce it= mass suffering ensues. starvation does not build character.
That means you, isadore, will have to go to work like the rest of us. Time to grow up.

when true economic catastrophe struck in the Great Depression the states were found wanting. And so many are in situations that short term benefits will not save.WebFire;1160977 wrote:I think that's because of what it has become. If we had very simple, short-term benefits, I'd be fine with some. And most of that should come at the state level.

of course I can, and the fact that Bill Gates can feed his kids says nothing about the economic problems of tens of millions of Americans and more specifically of 15 million American children. There is nothing extreme about describing the goal of Republican social policy.jmog;1160989 wrote:You really can't condemn someone else's logic, even when it was bad like sleeper's, when you use extremes like your bolded statement. That is about as illogical as it possibly could be.

Sorry about their luck. This nation was built on opportunity, not living long term sucking on the government's tit.isadore;1161087 wrote:when true economic catastrophe struck in the Great Depression the states were found wanting. the nation was built on many things, most positve, some negative including slave labor in all 13 colonies. From the start some were denied opportunity and that continues. In terms of social mobility, the true measurement of opportunity, we are far down the list among developed nations. The nations above us all do a better job of providing for their citizens.WebFire;1161102 wrote:Sorry about their luck. Social mobility is a stupid idea/terminology. I want to raise the pot for everyone, not give free stuff to the lazy poor.isadore;1161419 wrote:the nation was built on many things, most positve, some negative including slave labor in all 13 colonies. Don't get that confused with raising marijuana. The poor will do that anyway, even if you gave them more money they'd piss it away on illegal drugs.isadore;1161556 wrote:LOL "I want to raise the pot for everyone."

So the farmer making food to sell at a price higher than what it costs him to make to feed his family lacks a heart?isadore;1161580 wrote:when you act to benefit yourself at the expense of those in need, you lack a heart.

And prices would adjust accordingly. Bread would cost $1000000 dollars a loaf and people would still complain that the rich aren't paying their fair share.isadore;1161584 wrote:then we would able to supply everyone with that million dollars you want to give them. Kind of my feelings about the BS whining about outsorucing. That is, if you genuinely care about REAL human suffering.isadore;1161580 wrote:when you act to benefit yourself at the expense of those in need, you lack a heart.
