I'm probably going overboard on the my NBA Playoff Thread, but I am sick to fucking death of all the bullshit posters we have here.
I will continue to unapprove posts and will start handing out troll points if it continues. There will be no warnings issued, I have already posted it 3 times.

We need the authority to ban people. No offense, but we(the individual forum mods) can't rely on you or the other mods to do it.

Sorry, I havent been on at all this weekend. I agree with Fly, I am hesitant to just start lighting shit up because of the "OMG YOUR FUCKING JUST LIKE JJ" backlash that is bound to happen. I am still trying to find a way for moderators to be able to move people to the basement. This software sucks ass as far as administration goes.

I see, I misread your posts.
I believe I have given all super mods the ability to change the usergroup of a user. The only way to do that is to open up access to the admin cp interface. That will allow access to more than just changing users, but that is the only thing you guys should touch. Touching anything else = BANT. If a super mod is on now and can let me know if they see the admin link now that would be great.

Admin link is there. Haven't clicked on it yet.
I doubt there will be an issue with anyone abusing that. We can already ban, and the only other thing we really needed was the ability to move to the basement. I think the only other thing I ever did outside of typical moderation shit like unapproving/infracting/banning was change ender's avatar, and edit sigs with profanity. It's not like any of us are going to rig the rep system/vbookie, or change the color scheme.

We're in a weird spot right now, obviously SOMETHING has to be done because we've reached a widespread unreadable level, but it's a matter of what do we do without coming off heavy handed. Are we going to establish any ground rules regarding who gets moved? And, are we going to broadcast anything to the forums themselves warning them what to expect?

I think we have to issue a warning and then start moving after that. If a guy like sleeper cleans it up after the warning (small chance) he wouldn't get moved. Guys we've had problems with in the past (sleeper, etc) would have a one strike rule. People that haven't been trouble in the past would get a warning first.

I'd recommend using the "Troll Point" warning as a formal warning that will list here so the rest of the mods know who has been warned.

Also, I kinda want to screw with people for a little bit. Kinda like the thing last year in the basement when people actually thought I sold the site. I was thinking of posting in the thread I started about my co-worker saying someone sent the link to my place of employment and got me fired. I just worry that once we let them know it was a joke that someone would actually try to figure out where I work and send it.

YOu can either go to their profile and hit the ban option, which takes to to the Mod CP and edit whatever or do whatever you need to OR Go straight to the Mod link on the top right of the page and do a search there.wildcats20;1160382 wrote:I still have no idea how to actually do anything other than moderate posts....
